Solemn Machine is a Shadow in the Persona series.

Appearances

Profile

Persona 4 / Golden

Solemn Machine appears as a red Shadow in World 5 and as a normal Shadow in World 6 of Magatsu Mandala within the Midnight Channel. The analysis screen caps Solemn Machine's HP at 999, though it actually has 5,486 HP. Due to its very low Endurance stat, it will take heavy damage from everything except Fire, which it Repels. It also Nulls both Light and Darkness. Due to its Apt Pupil and Sharp Student passive skills, it will have an increased chance of scoring critical hits with Vorpal Blade and the party will not be able to land critical hits easily. When defeated, it may drop Orichalcum. Selling four Orichalcum at Daidara Metalworks will unlock the Triumph for the protagonist in the shop.

In Golden, Solemn Machine no longer repels Fire. Its only offensive skill is Heaven's Blade, but it makes use of Heat Riser and Power Charge. It no longer has access to Apt Pupil or Sharp Student. It may also drop Rainbow Quartz for trade at Shiroku Pub.

Trivia

Orichalcum is a metal mentioned in several ancient writings, considered second only to gold in value. The name is derived from the Greek oreikhalkos, literally meaning "mountain copper."
