Clarke's Third Law was a philosophical concept, devised by the Human author Arthur C. Clarke in the 20th century. In it, Clarke proposed that any sufficiently advanced technology would be "indistinguishable from magic".
The concept was debated by both scientists and theologians. At some point, the law was reinterpreted to indicate the indistinguishability of advanced extra-terrestrial life from God.
In 2257, Christopher Pike referenced the law, and its later interpretation, when discussing how the Human inhabitants of Terralysium were brought to the planet. (DIS: "New Eden")
This reinterpretation was proposed by science writer Michael Shermer in 2002. [1]
