Far future

Planet, Far Future
Planet seen in the far future...

The future, the distant future, or the far future was, based on the context of the reference, a time period yet to happen, advancing from present minutes to millennia for all eternity or to the end of time.

Some species, such as the Yattho, possessed great abilities of precognition, and were said to "have been known to predict future events with uncanny accuracy." (VOY: "Before and After")

From the 22nd century perspective, in 2151, Sarin informed Captain Jonathan Archer that the Suliban Cabal were "taking orders from the distant future", specifically someone who lived in the 28th century. (ENT: "Broken Bow") Keyla later repeated the same information, regarding an individual in the distant future, to Archer while they were together on Risa. (ENT: "Two Days and Two Nights")

As the USS Enterprise monitored the collapse of the planet Psi 2000, Spock noted the significance of the event, stating it to be "a valuable study. We may be seeing Earth's distant future." (TOS: "The Naked Time")

Upon the USS Enterprise-D's inadvertent arrival to End of the Universe in 2364, The Traveler said of their premature arrival to the region that "you should not be here until your far, far distant future," when Humans could better learn to control their thoughts. (TNG: "Where No One Has Gone Before")

In 2365, Ira Graves, who possessed the body of the android Data, wished to also create an android body for Kareen Brianon so that they could "witness the end of time together." (TNG: "The Schizoid Man")

At a school, a teacher teaches the children in her class, which includes Andorians, Borg, Caitians, Ferengi, and Humans, about the Boimler Effect, and she goes on to teach them how Miles O'Brien was probably Starfleet's most significant historical figure. (LD: "Temporal Edict")

Memory of The Doctor
The Doctor, not forgotten

A group of Kyrians and Vaskans stand around a viewscreen, watching a recreation of The Doctor from USS Voyager's EMH backup module and Quarren cleaning up the rubble of the Museum of Kyrian Heritage on the Kyrian and Vaskan homeworld, ca. 3074. A tour guide explains how this was a turning point in their peoples' history, and how it finally brought about equality between the Kyrians and the Vaskans. Quarren died six years later, long enough to see the beginning of the peace he helped create. The Doctor became Surgical Chancellor of the united races for many years, before leaving in a small craft to trace Voyager's path back to the Alpha Quadrant, claiming to have "a longing for home". (VOY: "Living Witness")

These events take place no sooner than seven years after 3074, although the docent's monologue, and Quarren's statement that "it could be another seven hundred years," both imply that several generations have passed. It is reasonable to conclude that these events take place as early as the final years of the 31st century, and as late as the 38th century. Chronologically, this scene could take place farther in the future than any other filmed scene in the entire Star Trek franchise.

Craft and Zora dance
Craft and Zora dancing

Nearly a thousand years after the 33rd century, a war involving the Human natives of Alcor IV and the V'draysh takes place that lasts at least ten years. Craft is a soldier involved in this conflict, and leaves his family behind to fight the V'draysh. About ten years into the war, Craft steals an enemy escape pod and finds himself drifting through space for about a month. USS Discovery lies abandoned in a region of space with lightning-like phenomena, having been abandoned for nearly a millennium in anticipation of Craft's arrival as a part of a Red Directive mission. Craft, still in the V'draysh escape pod, is brought aboard by the ship's artificial intelligence, but at some point thereafter departs for his homeworld, Alcor IV, which is remote but within reach of Discovery's last shuttle. (DIS: "Life, Itself"; ST: "Calypso")
