Gagarin Radiation Belt

The Gagarin Radiation Belt was an area of space that surrounded the Loracus system.

At one time, the radiation belt made travel to this system all but impossible until the system's primary star became relatively stable prior to 2151. (ENT: "Strange New World")

In 2164, the Federation starship USS Franklin went missing in this belt. (Star Trek Beyond)

It was later theorized in 2263 of the alternate reality by Montgomery Scott that the ship experienced a wormhole displacement to account for its remote distance, for the 22nd century, from Earth after the ship was discovered on the planet Altamid. (Star Trek Beyond)

The Belt was presumably named after famed Russian cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, the first Earth Human ever to venture into outer space, completing a full orbit of Earth aboard Vostok 1 on April 12th, 1961.
