Metal fabric was the type of fabric material with a metallic appearance, used in the manufacturing of the garments worn by the Talosians during the mid-23rd century.
During Captain Christopher Pike's imprisonment on Talos IV he began looking for an explanation for Vina's repeated appearances, she suggested that "[p]erhaps they made me out of dreams you've forgotten."
Pike, however, disputed her explanation, observing that like his captors, she too was dressed "in the same metal fabric they wear."
Vina continued the charade, seductively adding, "I have to wear something, don't I?" (TOS: "The Cage", "The Menagerie, Part II")
According to the script notes, the Talosians wore "shimmering metallic garb." Later in the same script notes, Vina's garment was likewise described as "a simple garment of the metallic Talosian material."
