Research Station 75 was a planetary research station located on the fringes of Federation space, approximately two weeks by scout ship from Romulan territory.
In 2369, Ensign DeSeve, a former Starfleet officer who defected to Romulus and who had spent twenty years on that planet, returned to Federation space at Research Station 75 bearing a message from Ambassador Spock for Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Unknown to either of them the message's instructions to rendezvous with a Corvallen freighter in the Kaleb sector was a crucial component to assist in the defection of Vice-Proconsul M'ret.
