Setlik system

The Setlik system was an inhabited system in the Alpha Quadrant, near the Federation-Cardassian border. This system had three planets, including Setlik II and Setlik III, that were the site of Federation colonies.

In the mid-23rd century, Setlik was listed among several systems in the region surrounding the Kiley system as being home to a warp-capable civilization. Setlik II was the site of a Federation colony, which had been in place for generations by 2259. Around that same time period, there were multiple reports of Orion pirate activity in the area around Setlik II. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Those Old Scientists")

The Setlik system was a battleground during the Federation-Cardassian War in the mid-24th century. Believing that the system was a staging ground for a Federation assault on Cardassian space, Cardassian forces attacked the outpost on Setlik III and killed the majority of its inhabitants, in an event that would be remembered as the Setlik III massacre. (TNG: "The Wounded")

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. The Setlik system was in or near to Federation space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

In 3189, the location of Setlik was denoted on a holographic star chart of the galaxy at Federation Headquarters. (DIS: "Die Trying")

This star system was only mentioned in writing.

Based on Brad Boimler's comments that Setlik II had been settled for multiple generations as of 2259, the system was likely colonized around or before the early 23rd century.

The name of this system came from the source material used, the Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, to create the star charts seen in both Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard. According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 47) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Setlik system was a binary star system with a pair of A-class stars.
