Background
- The episode title card was set in the "Crillee" font that was the standard episode title typeface during Star Trek: The Next Generation. This was also the first Star Trek production with the creator credit "Based upon Star Trek: The Next Generation created by Gene Roddenberry" rather than "Based upon Star Trek".
- By either coincidence or design, the feature of the David BowieWP song "HeroesMA" was timed to the four-year anniversary of the last full day of Bowie's life, as "Children of Mars" premiered on 9 January 2020, and Bowie died on 10 January 2016. Also with the release date, CBS began adding dates for episodes the preceding day (to describe the episode releasing in the early hours in some time zones, meaning the official release date listed on the site was 8 January, Bowie's birthdate.
