Chile is a nation on the South American continent on the planet Earth. It was bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west, Peru to the north, and Bolivia and Argentina to the east.
History

In 1973, the Chilean government was overthrown in a military coup d'état, and many government supporters were imprisoned at Estadio Chile, a soccer arena in the capital city, Santiago. One of the prisoners held there was a famed songwriter and poet, Victor Jara, who attempted to lift the spirits of his fellow prisoners with song. When he refused to stop when ordered, he was beaten and eventually executed. Estadio Chile was renamed Estadio Victor Jara in 2003 in his memory. (ST - Destiny novel: A Singular Destiny)

Alternate realities
In an alternate timeline created when Leonard McCoy saved the life of Edith Keeler, much of Chile had been overrun by the Japanese military in 1954 during World War II. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)
In the Kelvin timeline according to Khan Noonien Singh, in September 1992 Augment Dictator Asahf Ferris annexed Chile into the South American Union. By 1996, it was part of the Ferris Dominion. By the end of 1996, the Augment dictatorships were overthrown. (TOS - Khan comics: "Issue 2", "Issue 3")
