Duran system

The Duran system was a star system located near Federation space in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

History and specifics

The Duran system's orbit was the location of at least 12 planets, including the inhabited Cytherius and uninhabited Duran XII.

In the 2270s, it was located in undisputed free space. (TOS - Untold Voyages comic: "Silent Cries")

In 2274, the starship USS Enterprise visited Cytherius, but their assignment there was cut short by a distress call in the nearby Ilyria system. (TOS comic: "Eclipse of Reason")

In 2276, unusual subspace communications activity in the system prompted the Federation to establish an outpost on Duran XII, its only presence in the system's sector. Later that year, the Enterprise arrived to help Duran XII outpost personnel transport a newly-discovered entity, the "Crier". Fighters from the Orion Black Star Squadron battled the Enterprise attempting to steal it. (TOS - Untold Voyages comic: "Silent Cries")
