Helaspont Nebula
Map of the Helaspont Nebula and surrounding area.

The Helaspont Nebula is a nebula located within the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant, coreward of the Tzenkethi Coalition.

History and specifics

Part of the nebula is located in the Helaspont sector. The Helaspont cloud contains the stars Theta Draconis and Orellius. (ST reference: Star Charts)

Helaspont Station is located near the Helaspont Nebula. (ST - The Lost Era novel: One Constant Star)

In late 2371, the USS Ulysses was studying protoplanetary masses in the nebula. (DS9 episode: "The Adversary")

First splinter timeline

In early 2375, a Haradin trading vessel discovered a mysteriously abandoned Breen frigate drifting on the outskirts of the nebula, almost perfectly intact. They sold it to the Kropaslin, who wanted to make use of the advanced Breen biotechnology to improve their own. (SCE eBook: The Future Begins)

In 2385, Captain Benjamin Sisko took the USS Robinson on a patrol of the Tzenkethi border. The USS Argus, also on patrol, defected an unknown vessel crossing the border, so the Argus pursued it into the Helaspont Nebula. Emerging from the nebula, the Argus found itself surrounded by three Tzenkethi harriers under the command of Nenzet Siv Vel-C. It reentered the nebula to evade the Tzenkethi ships, managing to avoid the weapons fire directed into the nebula. It was rescued by the Robinson when Captain Sisko intervened. (DS9 novel: Sacraments of Fire)
