Specifications
The vessels crewed 50, with space to carry 150 passengers and 400 evacuees. The Merced measured 187 meters in length, and was 9 decks in height, and was equipped with one aft dorsal tractor beam and one forward ventral tractor beam.
The had three computer cores, and the vessel was loaded with two personnel transporters, two emergency transporters, and two cargo transport stages. In sensor systems, the Merced lateral sensors and navigational sensors are equipped to scan at a light-year's distance, and the long range sensors have a 15 light-year range.
The Merced warp engines were rated to cruise at warp factor 5 and max out at warp factor 9, up to warp 9.2 for 12 hour intervals. The impulse engines were rated to cruise at .7 light speec and max out at .9 or light. The Merced had type 7 phasers, with phaser emitters able to fire in a full 720 degrees. The vessel had two type 2 photon torpedo launcher weapons with arcs of fire to the aft ventral and foward dorsal, storing 75 torpedoes that fire in spreads of up to 4 torpedoes. The vessels were defended by deflector shields.
In the early 24th century, the Merced entered a short production, with sixteen vessels built over the course of four years, having been designed to work in concert with the cancelled Freedom-class strike cruisers. The class fell out of production after the Tomed Incident caused a lessening of tensions with the Romulan Star Empire. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The Price of Freedom)
