As a newly assigned officer in 2267, she served her first rotation on the hangar deck. Hikaru Sulu flirted with her, though he'd only met her a couple of times. Observing them, newly promoted Ensign Pavel Chekov lamented his own lack of self-confidence. (TOS novel: The Disinherited)
