Trellisane was a planet in the Trellisane-Sealon system, located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants in the no-man's land between the Federation, Organian Treaty Zone, and Romulan Neutral Zone. It was the homeworld of the independent, interplanetary Trellisanian civilization and became a colonial home for the Sealon species.
Specifics
Oceans covered two-thirds of the surface, its continents having large underwater continental shelves. Terrain included cliffs, coves, small island chains, inland salt pools, and beaches. Pacifist Trellisanians avoided living in any regions prone to natural disasters, and had not warred with each other for thousands of years. Cities were located in both hemispheres.
History
By the 23rd century, Trellisanians had advanced to having interplanetary spaceflight and subspace radio. The world was sometimes visited by merchant vessels based out of Federation colonies near the Romulan Neutral Zone. Because of its sensitive location, neither the Klingons, Romulans, or Federation wanted a competing power to gain a foothold in the region by allying with Trellisane.
In 2269, the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise responded to a distress call from Trellisane asking for help from relentless orbital bombardment from neighboring world
. Not long after the starship's arrival, Sealon forces invaded Trellisane, aided by Klingon soldiers. Within days, however, Sealons drowned the Klingons. Having established a foothold on Trellisane, Sealon King Matabele negotiated for possession of Trellisane's oceans, small island chains, and some inlets along coasts in exchange for Trellisanians having exclusive fishing rights there and on Sealon. Sealons would become Trellisane allies and trading partners. All large land areas would remain Trellisanian, as well as all the other planets and moons in the system.
