USS Io

In the First Splinter[4] timeline, the USS Io (NCC-80105) was a 24th century Federation starship, a Luna-class science vessel in Starfleet service from the 2370s decade. (TTN novel: Sword of Damocles, Titan Fold-out)

Its commanding officer was Captain T'Vrea. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)

Service history

Io 2411
The Jovian moon Io.

Like all Luna-class starships, the Io was

after a moon in the Sol star system. (TNG novel: Greater Than the Sum)

Io was a moon of the planet Jupiter. (TOS movie & novelization: Star Trek Into Darkness)

At some point between stardates 58552.2 and 58582.5 in 2381, the USS Io needed to have its warp core replaced to prevent the extragalactic Totality from destroying the ship. (TOS novel: Captain's Glory)

On Frontier Day in April 2401, the Io was one of 36 Luna-class starships participating in the parade and demonstration of fleet formation mode at Sol Station in Earth's orbit. The vengeful Borg Queen of the primary universe Borg Collective assimilated the fleet and its younger crew and began attacking Sol Station. (PIC episode: "Võx")

Admiral Picard and the USS Titan-A intervened, stopping the queen's plan and restoring Starfleet's control over its ships. (PIC episode: "The Last Generation")

The Io surveying asteroids in 2381.

In 2379 and 2380 of the First Splinter timeline, the Io was among the first batch of Luna-class starships launched by Starfleet. (TTN novel: Taking Wing Luna Class Concept Notes)

The ship was under the command of T'Vrea. Early the following year, the Io made first contact with the Trinni/ek. Later, they were responsible for discovering the unusual radioactive properties of their sun, after both the Io crew and the Trinni/ek delegation to Earth fell ill due to their effects. In August 2380, first officer Commander Thérèse Su appeared as a panelist on Illuminating the City of Light, to discuss the developing relations between the Federation and the Trinni/ek. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)

In May 2381, the Io was involved in the survey of an asteroid field. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)
