Virgil

Virgil (15 October 70 BCE - 19 September 19 BCE) was an author of ancient Earth's Roman Empire, best known for writing the Aeneid.

Legacy

In 2155, Audentes fortuna juvat (translated as "fortune favors the bold"), from the Aeneid was chosen as the ship's motto of the Columbia. (ENT novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

In 2364, a mercenary named "Poet" quoted Virgil when he said "Who ever asks whether the enemy were defeated by strategy or valor?", advising a more careful approach as the Silver Paladin's team plotted to replace the Riatine drug with a placebo on the planet Treva. (TNG novel: Survivors)
