Reason(s): Several users popping up and starts editing on current events-related articles on the war in Afghanistan. This looks like an other blocked user that is blocked from nowiki permanently. This has been checked previously a year ago, with more checks related to that case, but not logged in that case. The previous checks are stale, but if I remember correctly, this user orgininated from Asia, which is rather unusal on nowiki. These users make cross-wiki distruptive editings such as non-discussion moving("鎭海벚꽃祝祭" in en.wp, "Ilovephos" in ko.wp), impersonating other people(User:Chugun - Chagan, User:ChongDae - HongDae, User:Phenomenart - Phenomenarte, User:Klutzy - Klutzy Pedal), add block template on user page("Ilovephos" in en.wp, "鎭海벚꽃祝祭" in ko.wp). These users have same editing habits (of course in both ko.wp and en.wp), such as follows:

They make new user for avoiding their blocks(Some of these use a signature of the others).
They have interesting in transportation articles, but make nonsense editing, bad discussion.
They vandalize other people's user page such as adding block template.

We need the reason of blocking and banning, so they should be checked they are using sockpuppetries. - Chugun (Talk) 08:35, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

I know that those four users are socks and are using the same IP range. I just need to know what this plage is, and if other accounts have been created with it.

Therefore, I don't know if you can check it, but I need to know the activity of 83.115.0.0/16 (try of edits or of account creations). It seems that our vandal use a new IP range, so we can probably unblock the first one. -- Quentinv57 09:00, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Done. No other socks found on that IP-range, but he keeps changing his IP. Still comes from IPs owned by France Telecom, and two of the users came from the same IP, but I would not suggest range-blocking at this time, because of the sice of the ISP, and other users in the same ranges. Some IP think they have to work very similar and Dinhtuydzao had once banned the use of puppets, many thought he should continue to open this account to illegally vote. This causes disagreement and makes people insulting each other, that's all I can say minhhuy*= 00:47, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Reason(s): Moulton is globally locked. He was given access to the user name Caprice to edit the user talk page as part of discussion for possible appeal or whatever. It was also set up to keep him from using various proxies to jump around his ban/lock. One IP from his location and service provider (as determined by this tool - I wont state both publicly for privacy reasons, but a steward can search the IP and see what comes up) created that page as a test. It is possible that it was an IP by another user who states that he was visiting in the area at the time, but he was unsure (see bottom response). I would like to know if this was part of Moulton's used range or likely him, as the area represents millions of possible users and we have already blocked large ranges in the region and, if it is him, if a steward could put forth the proper range block. - Ottava Rima (talk) 14:42, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

It looks like a duck to me. Caprice edits from the exact same IP address as Moulton with a useragent match. The IP you posted does not match either of the IPs that Caprice uses, however it's the same service provider. None of the three IPs are in the same (assignable) CIDR range, so a range block is not a valid option. Other stewards are invited (begged?) to review and opine on my conclusions. Reason(s): Edgars2007 and GreenZeb know each other in real life. They say Edgars2007 created sockpuppet Mansalus and shared it with GreenZeb. The thing is that GreenZeb "left" Wikipedia some time ago, after that he started to edit anonimously and with these sockpuppets in slightly questionable manner (the other was used to upload picture of Edgars2007 without his consent). They had an argument which seem to indicate that they live in diffrent cities, which would mean they might have diffrent ISP and couldn't be sharing computers. Their excuses don't add up, so I would like to make sure nothing more sinister is going on. Would it be possible to establish if these induviduals are indeed two persons, who of them was using sockpuppet accounts for editing and if they have any other sockpuppets ? ~~Xil...(talk) 21:15, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

If these accounts haven't been used in an abusive manner we can't check them. If possible, please provide evidence of abuse. Checkuser also cannot tell us definitively whether GreenZeb and Edgars2007 are/are not different people, only indications thereof.--Shanel 02:41, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Reason(s): Sockpuppet abuse

These users are all sockpuppets of one user. This user has made 17 sockpuppets, and they all got blocked likely in April, 2010. And now, I have found some evidences that the user "ANICE" is another sockpuppet of them. Here are some evidences:

Sockpuppets and "ANICE" all wrote edit summaries in detail. CEO's, ANICE's
They all use their discussion page as their own user page.
- 보안과장's. "If you want to discuss me, please leave some word here."
- ANICE's, "행유란 자의 만행". As I told, in here, this user writes down the personal thoughts in his discussion page.
They all does some personal attacks.
- Feeling's. It contains, "니가 관리자도 아닌데 관리자인 척 저명성 어쩌고 저작권 어쩌고 하는 꼴이 우습구나.(How funny it is that you chatter about notability, copyrights, blah, blah, since you're not an administrator!)", "양심도 없는 녀석아...(An unconscious man...)", "당신의 행동은 초등학생들이나 하는 짓이다.(Your acting feels me like a elementary school student.)", ... Their sockpuppets' personal attacks are too innumerable to write down all of those.
- ANICE's, "행유란 자의 만행". The user is doing personal attacks about me. "행유란 자는 위키백과에서 암과 같은 존재로 판단됩니다.(행유 is a cancer of wikipedia.)"
- Especially, they all pick a fight with mentioning the users' ages. They generally use the word, "10대(teenagers)" or "20대(twenties)"(with "초중반"). 보수주의자's, 보안팀장's, and ANICE's.

Reason(s): history of copyright violations, similar behavior

Over an extended period of time, these three users have been adding copyrighted Japanese song lyrics to the English Wikiversity. Despite warnings from several different users to stop, these users have ignored the warnings and any attempt at dialogue about their actions. Instead, they have attempted to have their talk pages deleted which would have the effect of hiding warnings and attempts at discussion from most users. Recently Okanosato was given a final warning. Shortly thereafter he chose to publicly reveal his password, necessitating that edit to be hidden and leading to a block by Diego Grez. Earlier this evening, Kanjy Kanji revealed his password, requiring the same response. As the passwords were the same, and these editors have engaged in a similar pattern of disruptive and irresponsible conduct, I am requesting a checkuser to determine if these accounts are the same person. Reason(s): Here I am, once again asking for a checkuser on this vandal. I have already come here in March 2010, January 2010, October 2009 and August 2009 (Please read those threads for the reasons for the request). This time I would like to ask you to check these accounts We have had many new users registering in the last few weeks, so if we could do a broad "sweep" and see if this vandal is hiding anywhere in those usernames, I would be very grateful.

Unlikely One of the accounts geolocates to a different continent, and even the two in the same country are in different cities and the other technical information is different as well. Open proxies may be in use, but behavioral evidence will need to be the deciding factor. -- Avi 04:06, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

User Ben Pirard has left wp-nl after being blocked for violating guidelines like WP:NPOV. User Datu is a new user at wp-nl who has been warned for violating WP:NPOV too. User Beachcomber is a user who left wp-nl but edited similar articles.

This sounds like a shooting ducks to me,Yolande edited only it.wiki, Ben Pirard didn't edit any projects where Yolande or Datu edited and the IP didn't edit all the projects both edited, don't think a checkuser can be done here but that just my opinion. If you have a complaint regarding misuse of the checkuser tool, contact the Ombudsman commission. If you have a complaint regarding blocking on technical evidence that you feel is falsified, contact the Arbitration Committee for that project.
