What do they know of England, who only England know.

Grüße vom Sänger ♫(Reden) 11:30, 2 July 2021 (UTC) PS: Manchmal auch auf Niederländisch, just for the fun of it.Reply

We're still collecting feedback for the IP Info feature

Hello JavaHurricane, there's still time to test the IP Info feature and share your feedback. Looking forward to hearing from you. –– STei (WMF) (talk) 18:14, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Why have I gotten a ping on this page rather than my talk page, STei (WMF)? JavaHurricane 11:17, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Probably a copy and paste error. Der-Wir-Ing ("DWI") talk 11:48, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Der-Wir-Ing, it is indeed an error. If you are still interested, you can share your feedback. @JavaHurricane, apologies for the confusing moment you might have had. However the message still applies if you are up for it. –– STei (WMF) (talk) 11:59, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

"Committees are slow to respond"

edit

Thank you for the unexpected smile. After 2.5 years on the Movement Charter Drafting Committee, I can really relate to this.

Best wishes and thanks to you and your colleagues in the busy election season ahead. You may be relieved to know that the MCDC is going to retain responsibility for the ratification vote for the draft Movement Charter, which is scheduled to take place in June. Tiffany Henyard

edit

I ended up having to send ticket 76757 to the legal department about the current behavior going on in the Tiffany Henyard article. Can the election committee do something because it requires immediate review by U4C which doesn't exist yet. I also misspelled "Henyard" twice in the email to legal which I apologize for. I'm being accused of bad faith edits on the article as I'm in the middle of an election to deal with systemic problems, so I'm a little flustered. -- Sleyece (talk) 00:24, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sleyece, why are you appealing to a member of the Elections Committee (a global body that has zero authority to affect content on any project that is unrelated to an election it is managing) to address a content issue on English Wikipedia? Is there a reason why you are not using the dispute resolution systems on English Wikipedia? For example, have you added your voice to the BLPN thread about this article? Bluntly put, you *aren't* a member of the U4C, and it would require the entire UCCC to discuss the issues you claim to have raised with WMF Legal about that article. Being a candidate for the role doesn't give you any special authority over very specific article content, especially a presumption that an article is racially biased. It's pretty obvious that the problem with the article is that a person who would not normally be considered notable (being the mayor of a small US village does not grant notability), but suddenly has dozens of high quality reference sources writing about allegations about her. This happens all the time when something titillates the maintstream media. As a candidate, you might want to articulate how you believe the U4C should address these issues, but knocking on the door of the Elections Committee is probably not going to rank very high on that list. I'm not even sure initiating a ticket with WMF Legal would be anywhere near the top of that list. Risker (talk) 02:42, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Risker I'll kindly ask you to let @Der-Wir-Ing deal with the elections committee response on their own talk page. I asked for the elections committee to be aware of the ongoing because the charter says the elections committee must meet on every major issue that arises in the first election. For the record I initiated a the legal ticket because it was necessary and legal should be allowed to respond whenever they're ready to email me. Wikipedia committees that are coequal have already taken good faith actions to mend by editing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Advice_for_hotheads#You_cannot_argue_Wikipedia_into_capitulation Don't tell me or other co-equal actors what to do again. If you don't consider me an equal, then just know that I filed the Legal ticket in good faith. -- Sleyece (talk) 02:55, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sleyece, simply put, if you want the attention of the Election Committee, the best place to post is on Talk:Wikimedia Foundation elections committee, not on the page of an individual Election Committee member. I am not sure why you believe that your concerns about one specific article on English Wikipedia is something that needs to be brought to their attention, but I accept that you believe this is the case. In the meantime, perhaps you might want to send the article to AFD. It only takes a minute or two, so it shouldn't have too negative an impact on your candidacy. I think you'd have a good argument that the mayor of a tiny village in the middle of Illinois isn't notable enough for an article, let alone the one that's there, that the article is largely built on BLP1E and thus should be deleted. It will certainly bring more eyes to the situation. Risker (talk) 03:18, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
