SCENE 1 | Elmo is ready to help Chris clean some dirty dishes, but Chris' favorite superhero number, the Amazing Zero arrives to make the number of dirty dishes zero. Elmo is excited, but confused, needing to be explained to what zero is. After Amazing Zero does her signature trumpet chime, she explains that she's on Sesame Street to find a sidekick, and Elmo is glad to be her fellow "zero hero"... | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | ...Only, he can't count to zero, so the Amazing Zero shows him how by turning four cups into zero cups. Elmo gets into costume and accepts the alias "Super Zer-mo" per Chris' suggestion. Elmo leaves with Zero, but not before he does the trumpet chime. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | The heroes find Grover struggling to carry two tall stacks of library books on either hand. Elmo returns one stack and thinks their work is done, but Zero reminds Elmo that zero means none, and Grover's toppling over confirms that there aren't no books left. Elmo is disappointed he was unable to save the day and needed Zero's help, but Zero assures him he just needs more practice. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | The two find Grandma Nell busy with a glut of laundry. Elmo trips over with one basket of laundry and thinks he's solved the problem but once again is reminded that their job isn't finished until zero baskets remain. Zero finishes the job, leaving Elmo frustrated with himself. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | They find one more opportunity: Abby Cadabby, who anxiously watches three balls (including a beach ball and a basketball) bounce scarily close to her block tower. Zero invites Elmo to save the day, but Elmo doesn't believe in himself, instead suggesting Zero find a new sidekick. Zero reassures Elmo and doesn't let him give up, telling him he's the only sidekick she wants. With rebounded confidence, Elmo successfully redirects the beach ball and basketball and prematurely celebrates, but some boinging reveals to him there's one more to escort. As the third ball (Pam Arciero) is about to knock over the tower, Elmo catches it with a baseball glove in an overly-dramatic, slow-motion sequence. | |
SCENE 1 cont'd | Everyone helped by the power of zero arrives to give Super Zer-mo a round of applause, and they all do the trumpet chime together. | |
