Shirley Jones

Shirley Jones (b. 1934) is a film and TV actress who starred in the film versions of such musicals as Oklahoma!, Carousel, and The Music Man. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Elmer Gantry (1960). Her best known TV role is as the mother, Shirley Partridge, on The Partridge Family.

On Sesame Street, Jones made two appearances as Mrs. Goose, the head of Storybook Community School. She first appeared in Episode 4093 in Season 36 to welcome Baby Bear to his first day of school. She then returned in Episode 4110 of Season 37 to do the same for Abby Cadabby. She also appeared in a Healthy Moments with Zoe about how moving the body helps keep it healthy and strong and gives her something to do while waiting for the bus (referencing the Partridge Family's vehicle).

Jones had her own TV series, Shirley, in 1979. She has made guest appearances on many shows, including The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote, Melrose Place, The Drew Carey Show, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
