"There's No Business Like Show Business," from Irving Berlin's musical Annie Get Your Gun was originally performed by Ethel Merman on Broadway. It has been performed by the Muppets on several occasions.
The earliest known performance of the song by the Muppets was by Rowlf and Jimmy Dean on the April 2, 1964 episode of The Jimmy Dean Show.
Merman and the Muppets (including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Hilda, Wayne and Wanda, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Blue Frackle, a pig, the Trumpet Girl, and a few Whatnots) performed the song as the closing number to episode 122 of The Muppet Show. This was used to score the ending montage of Of Muppets and Men, as well as the opening montage of The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years.
Phyllis George and the Muppets performed the song for the closing number of episode 412 of The Muppet Show as well.
An instrumental sample of the song scores a portion of The Muppet Show pitch reel where Leo's speech reaches its most frantic. Another instrumental plays over the end credits in Muppet Treasures.
The Muppets performed a version of the song with new lyrics (retitled "What Happened to Show Business") for The Muppet Show Live.
In The Ghost of Faffner Hall episode "The Voice Is an Instrument," one of the members of the Electric Phoenix demonstrates a vocal sound by imitating Ethel Merman singing the song.
