Kalmaar then realized that the other group managed to return to Ninjago, and decided to escape with the Storm Amulet. During his escape, the Storm Amulet was taken from him by Nya and was later given to Vania so the Army of Shintaro can protect it. Unbeknownst to them, they were guarding the fake one from the Island of the Keepers while the real one was with Kalmaar, who swapped the real Storm Amulet with the fake one during his escape.

Official description
Prince (sorry, King!) Kalmaar needs both the Wave and Storm Amulet to awaken Wojira and attack NINJAGO City. With only one in his possession, he has looked far and wide for the second. To no avail. That is until Merlopian scientist, Glutinous, may have found its location! But will it be there?
Let’s hope for NINJAGO City’s sake that the answer is no…[7]
