What the. . .?
Did we switch parts?
The Mech Master is the second The Elemental Mechs short. It aired on January 9, 2024.
Synopsis
Will the ninja’s powerful new mech suits be strong enough to stop The Mechanic? Well, let’s just say the ninja will need to switch up their game if they want to avoid the scrapheap.[1]
Plot
At the Mech Master 5000 racetrack, Kai, Cole, Nya, Arin, Sora, and Riyu make their way to the stands with the former two eating a pie with Crème de Imperium on it, disappointing Arin, who had lost to Grab-Barg again. Sora is disappointed that she didn't enter the race on time as being a Ninja distracted her before Nya tries to reassure her that the former can enter next year, unaware that The Mechanic was hiding around a corner. As the racers begin to get ready, their mechs suddenly shut down when an EMP device was tossed at them, and the Mechanic jumps onto one, forcing the racer out, and uses another device to control the other mechs, leading to the racers evacuating their hijacked mechs. The Ninja immediately move to interfere, but Nya is easily knocked aside along with one of the mechs after attempting to slow the Mechanic's and Arin dives for Grab-Barg's pie stand to avoid getting hit by an arch.
Kai, Cole, and Sora soon get their mechs out, but the Mechanic has one of his commandeered mechs ram them all, dismantling them and makes his getaway while the remaining mechs deal with the ninja. Sora reassembles hers, but with an arm from Cole's mech and legs from Kai's before they tell her to go after the Mechanic. Reassembling their own with Kai having the other arm from Cole's and legs from Sora's mech, and Cole having Kai and Sora's mech arms respectively, they both take on the rogue mechs before discovering each part can channel their Elemental Power or the power of the part assembled to theirs. Sora eventually catches up to the Mechanic, who mocks her Technology power before knocking her off the bridge. However, Sora, using the legs from Kai's mech as a booster, manages to get back on the bridge and strikes the mech in half. With the Mechanic defeated, they reunite with Nya, Arin, and Riyu before they start carrying and eating some pies.

Trivia
Continuity
- The Mech Master 5000 and the annual pie-baking contest were both held in this episode, which means that the Elemental Mechs shorts take place one year after the events of "The Merge: Part 1".
- Sora asserts that Grab-Barg's pies were the finest, but later changed her opinion to consider them the second best after noticing Arin's sadness. This calls back to "Beyond Madness" when Arin initially declared Kai as his favorite ninja, but then changed it to be his second favorite after Sora gave him a certain expression.
- Sora and the Mechanic pass over the bridge from "The Merge: Part 1," which has now been shoddily repaired after the MergeQuake's destruction in "The Temple of the Dragon Cores."
- This short marks the first appearance of The Mechanic in Dragons Rising and the second named character from the original series to return, the first being Gulch from Master of the Mountain who appeared in Season 1 of Dragons Rising, The Mechanic first appeared in Skybound.
- This also marks the Mechanic's first appearance since "Dragon Form."
- In this short, his Nindroid eye is red, which was last seen during "The Mask of Deception."
- This is also the first time where a villain from the original series appears in Dragons Rising.
