(Outside the palace, a guard waves at "Lloyd" and Wu, who are waving back in Vania's room. "Lloyd" is revealed to be a cardboard cutout supported by Vania.)

Wu: Princess Vania. Are you sure this is necessary?

Vania: (She hands Wu Lloyd's cutout, then picks up Zane's.) My father is a good man, but very strict. If he knew the ninja had defied him and gone into the mountain, he would be quite upset.

Wu: Mm, perhaps you're right. Best that he does not know, then. Give Cole another appearance, would you?

Vania: Oh, I do hope the ninja are okay. Are you sure we shouldn't go after them? (She picks up Cole's cutout and walks to the windows.)

Wu: Positive. The ninja are quite capable.

Vania: With Cole as their leader, I suppose they must be well-trained.

Wu: Did Cole tell you he was the leader?

Vania: I assumed it, based on how courageous and daring he is. Isn't he?

Wu: They are a team. And rest assured, they'll be fine. I would be very surprised if they hadn't found Cole already, and were on their way back, victorious.

(In the mines, the ninja mine for an unknown substance.)

Lloyd: What is this stuff we're mining for? It looks familiar.

Nya: It's Vengestone! That's why our powers failed. (They look up to see some Re-Awakened whipping a Mino.)

Cole: Hey! Leave him alone, you big bully! (He throws his pickaxe and pins a Warrior's whip to a rock. The Warrior snatches his companion's whip and advances on Cole menacingly.) Okay, um, I didn't think that through. (The ninja briefly fight the Warrior.) Hold this for me, would ya? (He drops his ball onto him, and the Geckles and Munce cheer. More Warriors surround them.)

Zane: (sighs) That accomplished very little.

Cole: Yeah. But it was worth it. Heh. (The Mino licks him.) Ugh! Oh, you again.

Murt: (He hands Lloyd a bowl.) For you. Murt bring food.

Lloyd: Thanks, Murt.

Gliff: Don't trust Munce bearing gifts!

Murt: Don't trust Geckle blade stealer!

Lloyd: Guys, come on! Why do you hate each other so much? (Gliff and Murt growl at each other.)

Cole: Yeah, I wanna know about this "blade stealer" thing. What exactly happened between you?

Zane: Yes, I too, am curious. Please explain the origin of your mutual mistrust.

Gliff: Oh. Very well. I will tell you of the Two Blades. One was the Ivory Blade of Deliverance. The other was the Shadow Blade of Deliverance. They belonged to a mighty warrior named Gilly.

Murt: Milly.

Gliff: Not "Milly," you fool! Gilly!

Murt: Milly.

Cole: Skip the name, it doesn't matter! Just finish the story, please.

Gliff: The warrior came to our mountain many, many years ago. In those days, Geckles and Munce lived in fear, for there was a terrible dragon in the heart of the mountain.

Murt: Mief-Bringer.

Gliff: Grief-Bringer! Grief-Bringer!

Murt: Mief-Bringer.

Cole: Oh, boy. Here we go again.

Gliff: For many days and nights, Gilly battled Grief-Bringer. In the end, Gilly, won. Geckles and Munce were safe again. Gilly returned to the surface. But before she went, she gave to us a parting gift. One was given to the noble Geckles. The other was given to the stinking traitorous Munce. A gift to help us, if ever another evil should return to our mountain.

Zane: Most intriguing. But I fail to find the source of your strife.

Gliff: Our source "strifed" when the Munce snuck into our cave and stole our blade. Because they wanted both!

Murt: Geckle stole blade! Not Munce! (They growl at each other again.)

Lloyd: They each think the other stole their blade.

Nya: What if neither of them stole the blades? What if someone else took both blades?

Cole: Three guesses who.

Zane: Indeed. There's an ancient Ninjago proverb that says, "An enemy divided is more easily conquered."

Nya: If Munce and Geckles are fighting each other, they can't fight the Skull Sorcerer.

Lloyd: Cole, do you think we can broker a truce between these guys?

Cole: Hmph!

Lloyd: Not forever, just a temporary one. Make a deal. Tell them if they can keep it together and not fight, we might be able to break out of here and find their blades.

Kai: And how are we going to do that?

Lloyd: I'm working on a plan. But first, I need them to stop fighting.

Cole: I'll do my best. (Later while mining, to Gliff) Psst! Secret meeting after Glop Time. Spread the word, and no fighting, or you'll never get the blades back.

Gliff: (To a Geckle) Secret meeting after Glop Time. It's about the blades. No fighting!

Geckle: (To another Geckle) Secret meeting, about blades, and fighting!

Geckle: (To another Geckle) Secret meeting, for fighting!

(The Munce also spread the news to each other.)

Geckle: (At Glop Time) When do we start the fight?

Geckle: Yeah, let's get it on!

Kai: Fight? What fight?

Geckle: Against the Munce. (A Munce growls at the Geckle.)

Lloyd: No, there's no fight! Who said anything about a -

Geckle: (To Gliff) You said we were gonna have a fight.

Gliff: I said, a secret meeting about the blades. No fighting! (The Geckles and Munce growl.)

Lloyd: Look, guys, do you want your blades back or not? We think the Skull Sorcerer's got them. And if you promise to stop fighting, we might be able to get them back for you. Agreed?

Nya: Now we just have to figure out how to break out of our cage.

Cole: I got an idea about that. (Later, in the cage, he whistles at the Mino.) Here, Mino, Mino, Mino. (He pours his food onto the chains.) Come and get it. (The Mino eats the food as well as the chains.)

Lloyd: (To Kai, Nya, Zane, and Jay) You go release the Munce, Cole and I will go find the blades. (He and Cole arrive at a cave full of Vengestone.)

Cole: Oh, look at all this Vengestone.

Lloyd: The blades! That's all that matters. Find the blades!

Cole: Lloyd! (They arrive at a room with a deep hole.) Whoa, careful. You don't wanna fall down there.

Lloyd: Look! (They uncover what seems to be a blade, but is actually the Skull of Hazza D'ur.)

Hazza D'ur: Thieves! Interlopers! Intruders! Trespassers! (It casts a spell and the Skull Sorcerer arrives.)

Skull Sorcerer: You have made a grave mistake coming here.

Hazza D'ur: Now, you will pay!

Lloyd: (The Skull Sorcerer attacks them, and they run away, but are blocked by Awakened Warriors.) This way!

Zane: They do not appear to have found the blades!

Kai: What they found is trouble! Run!

Nya: Get the glop! (The ninja throw the food at the Warriors.) I'll get the gate! (She releases the Minos.) Go, go!

Lloyd: The cages! Jump! (Running from the Sorcerer, he bumps into Nya.)

Nya: This way! Come on!

Kai: Cole! This way! (Debris blocks his path.) Cole!

Zane: He'll have to take another tunnel. (They run away. Cole slides under a Mino and escapes the Sorcerer, who roars in frustration.)
