Arrow-catching
Arrow-catching is a generic use of magic that allows the caster to quickly catch an arrow in mid-air. It first appears in the second episode of the second season.
This generic use of magic has no particular appeareance.
Conjuration
Conjuration is a generic use of magic that allows the caster to conjure an object out of thin air. It first appears in the fourth episode of the first season.
Teleportation is a generic use of magic that allows the caster to move from one place to another. It first appears in the first episode of the first season.
Teleportation can appear as smoke of varying color,[4] depending on the caster. It can also appear as snow,[5] water,[6] fire,[7] but, for some practitioners, at will, it can have no effect, so the person dissapears into thin air.[8]
Telekinesis
Levitation
Levitation is a generic use of magic that allows the caster to make objects or people levitate in mid-air and move them with ease. It first appears in the second episode of the first season.
The spell sometimes causes the levitating object to glow with a transparent purple light,[9] but most of the time it has no particular visual effect.[10]
Neck-breaking
Neck-breaking are spells that allow the caster to break someone's neck, with or without physical contact. They first appear in the sixth episode of the third season.
To cast this spell, the caster must swing their hand, rapidly and forcibly. ("Ariel" et al.)
Telekinetic Choke
Telekinetic Choke are spells that allow the caster to telekinetically grip and squeeze someone's neck to choke or strangle them. They first appear in the eight episode of the first season.
Zelena (by Mr. Gold and the Evil Queen (Serum) )("I'll Be Your Mirror," "Changelings")
Description
This spell has no particular appearance.
To cast this spell, the caster must grip their hand as if they're choking the victim with it.[11]
Telekinetic Push
Telekinetic Push is a generic use of magic that allows the caster to telekinetically push objects or people forward or backward. It first appears in the second episode of the first season.
Fireball Casting are a generic use of magic that allow the caster to create and throw fireballs that burn or blast away _targets. They first appear in the sixteenth episode of the second season.
The color of the fireballs sometimes varies, as the case is with Zelena's which is green.[12]
If a fireball strikes someone's head, it immolates it.[13]
Fire Creation
Fire Creation (Incantation: Fiat lux (Let there be light).) is a generic use of magic that allows the caster to create fire in purpose of light. It first appears in the ninth episode of the spinoff.
This spell has no particular appearance, rather than the fire conjuring.
Fire Manipulation
Fire Manipulation is a generic use of magic that allows the caster to control and manipulate fire. It first appears in the second episode of the first season.
Maleficent, able to shapeshift into a dragon, is able to inhale fire.[14]
Enchantments
Beckoning Spell
Beckoning Spell is a spell that allows the caster to enchant an object to track down a person as long as they keep the object. It first appears in the fourth episode of the sixth season.
Dreamcatcher Enchantments are enchantments that allow the caster to see and extract memories. They first appear in the tenth episode of the second season.
Heart Enchantment is an enchantment that allows the caster to enchant a heart to kill the victim and control the victim's actions and speech. It first appears in the seventh episode of the first season.
When an enchanted heart is crushed, it crumbles into grey pebble-like pieces or ashes.[18]
For controlling the victim, the caster speaks into the heart, telling the victim what to do or say.[19]
Heart-ripping Enchantment
Heart-ripping Enchantment is an enchantment that allows the caster to enchant a hand or an object to be able to rip out a heart. It first appears in the ninth episode of the second season.
The spell is usually accompanied with a slight ripple and mostly with a glowing coat of varying color; orange, red or yellow (with the Fairy Godmother's Wand).[20]
Locator Spells are enchantments that allow the caster to enchant an object to lead them to whoever the object belongs to. They first appear in the twenty-second episode of the first season.
They require the following ingredients: personal object; stone as white as moonlight, a feather, preferably an owl feather, and moss from the north side of a tree (Cyrus' locator spell)
The most common version of the spell has no particular appearance other than the enchanted object flying towards its owner.[21]
Sometimes a yellow glow will cover the object.[22]
Other times, the spell will grant colorful sparkles to the object.[23]
A Locator Potion has similar effects: when poured over an object, it will fly towards its rightful owner.
A less common version of the Locator Spell makes the object glow brighter as it gets closer to the owner, as opposed to flying towards them. The glow is white when enchanted[24] and purple when enacted via potion[25]
Magic Neutralization Cuff Enchantment is an enchantment that allows the caster to enchant a cuff to render someone's magic unusable. It first appears in the twentieth episode of the second season.
Putting on or taking off the cuff is accompanied by yellow or blue glow.[26]
The wearer of the cuff can't take it off. ("Going Home" et al.)
The only exception is with Peter Pan, because he's the creator of the cuff. ("Going Home")
Message Enchantment
Message Enchantment is an enchantment that allows the caster to enchant an object to deliver a message to another person. It first appears in the seventh episode of the third season.
Sea Bracelets Enchantment is an enchantment that allows the caster to enchant a mermaid bracelet to make a mermaid able to get legs and walk on land permanently as long as they wear it. It first appears in the seventh episode of the third season.
Astral Projection is a mirror enchantment that allows the caster to project their self out of their body with a mirror. It is unknown if this spell can be cast with the Trolden Glass only. It first appears in the eighth episode of the fourth season.
After the victim is struck by the lightning, in Robin's case, the soul leaves the collapsing body in a blue form, and is present for a few seconds before evaporating.[39]
Both spells, draining and resurrecting, come in form of a red light.[40]
For resurrection, the victim must be inside of the pentagram, and when the amulet is activated, the pentagram starts glowing in red light.[41] The sacred orchid has to be thrown inside of the pentagram, and that's when magic from the amulet, in form of red glow, is able to aim towards the victim and weakens them until they fall on the ground.[42] The climax of the ritual comes when red lights attach the person with the tops of the pentagram, killing the victim.[43]
For draining someone's magic, the person must place their finger on top of the amulet, and a red light appears, draining the magic from the person.[44]
The spell appears as a magical ripple covering the person and glamouring them. It can also appear as smoke of varying color covering and glamouring the person. [45]
The spell is not visible in any reflection, such as mirrors.[46]
The spell usually appears as purple light,[47] but it can appear as yellow light,[48] green light,[49] and white light.[50] But, it depends on the caster of the spell.
If a weapon is enchanted to kill someone, the said person cannot heal any wounds caused by the same weapon. ("The Price")
Body Insertion
Body Insertion is a spell that allows the caster to insert themselves into another person's body. It first appears in the fifteenth episode of the fourth season.
The spell appears as a cloud of magical, purple-green smoke following the chosen person,[51] and circling them, inserting the caster into the body of an another person.[52]
Body Part Restoration/Removal
Body Part Restoration/Removal is spell that allows the caster to take someone's body organ out or put a body organ back into its previous place. It first appears in the fifth episode of the second season.
The spell is cast when the eyes of the caster shine, following the same with the eyes of the person the spell is being cast on, signalizing that the caster is inside of the other person. After that, the eyes of the caster's body shine again, signalizing that the victim is inside the caster's body. ("Save Henry")
People-merging
People-merging is spell that allows the caster to merge two people together. It first appears in the fifteenth episode of the third season.
The spell appears as light-blue light with ripple covering both, the caster and the the person the spell is being cast on. The spell is done when the caster's body absorbs the person.[54]
The merged person can exit the body of the other person at will, and since the spell lingers, they won't die immediately. However, they do have a very short amount of time to live before they fall back into the body of the other person. ("A Curious Thing," "Quiet Minds")
Preservation Spell
Preservation Spell is a spell that allows the caster to preserve a dead body and prevent it from rotting. It can also be used for keeping an alive person in their current condition for a while longer. It first appears in the fifth episode of the second season.
The spell appears as the shadow ripping out the other person's shadow, followed by a violet light at the border of the body and the shadow.[56]
It's possible to rip one's own shadow. Once that is done, the shadow will be in service to it's owner.
Mr. Gold uses a certain spell for it where he freezes his shadow in space and time, and cuts it down with the Dark One Dagger. ("Lost Girl")
Hook rips his shadow with his hook. Although, it's unknown whether he was able to do that because his hook possesses magic. ("Awake")
If an another shadow rips someone else's, they die immediately. ("The Heart of the Truest Believer")
Sustaining Spell
Sustaining Spell is a spell that allows the caster to sustain a person's life in any form they take. It first appears in the twentieth episode of the second season.
Once the spell has been cast on Maleficent, after she turned to ashes, her form was a large skeleton-like creature, wearing her golden headpiece and her purple dress, ripped. ("The Evil Queen")
Phytokinesis
Plant Growth
Plant Growth is a spell that allows the caster to grow plants very fast. It first appears in the seventh episode of the fifth season.
The spell appears as a cloud of ink surging from the spell book[57] which is inhaled by the caster.[58] Their eyes then become purple for an instant, as the plant heals.[59]
Plant Manipulation and Barrier Spells
Plant Manipulation and Barrier Spells are spells that allow the caster to manipulate plants and vines, and pictures of plants and vines. They first appear in the ninth episode of the first season.
The barrier spell, in natural environment, appears as branches, from local trees and other plants, extending and following the person,[60] tying them up, making them unable to move.[61] This spell can be undone by blowing a cloud of ink from the book, to the plants.[62]
In non-natural environment, such as a room without plants in it, for casting the barrier spell, the said environment sometimes has to contain a wallpaper with plants on it, so the branches have a source. The branches will take form of the plants on the wallpaper.[63]
Plant manipulation can be used for killing in various ways, such as choking, breaking necks, using killer plants to eat or release yellow-green, poisonous smoke for suffocating.[64]
Attack Spells
Aerokinesis
Aerokinesis is spells that allows the caster to use enhanced breathing or gusts of wind to extinguish flames, knock someone back and more. It first appears in the twenty-second episode of the first season.
Regina and Zelena's fireballs (by Cora)("Sisters")
Description
When Maleficent puts out the candles in her castle, she blows the air across the room, which appears as a slight image distortion. ("A Land Without Magic")
Similar to when Hades pushes away his victims, he simply blows at them. ("The Brothers Jones")
Before Zelena extinguishes Regina's fireball, it first takes on a green color, which is the color of Zelena's magic.[65]
Electrokinesis
Electrokinesis is spells that allows the caster to electrically attack an opponent through a bolt of lightning. It first appears in the eleventh episode of the seventh season.
When Madame Leota attacks Hook, a white streak of lightning, is shown to be shot through her, as her eyes also glow white.
Energy Blasts
Energy Blasts are a generic use of magic that allow the caster to blast the _target with magic. They first appear in the eighteenth episode of the third season.
The color of Energy Blasts differs depending on the caster. In some cases it might also depend on the intention, like when Regina blasted Zelena with intentionally light magic.[66]
The following are variations of Energy Blasts: Sometimes the blast appears as a beam of colored lightnings instead of a blurry light beam.[67]
Immolation
Immolation are spells that allow the caster to turn someone into ashes and inflict their death immediately. They first appear in the second episode of the spinoff.
The spell mostly appears as the victim's figure bursting into ashes and falling to the ground.
The exception was when the spell was cast on the Black Fairy, where the crumbling started with her hands and extended to her whole body.[68]
If the spell is placed on an object (e.g. Excalibur, Holy Grail), those not worthy to hold them won't be able to lift their hands of them until they explode into ashes. (S
Limb-Stretching Spell
Limb-Stretching Spell is a spell that allows the caster to stretch someone's limbs to induce pain. It first appears in the fourth episode of the spinoff.
Magical Explosion are spells that allow the caster to make someone or something magically explode. They first appear in the fourth episode of the first season.
The spell can appear as a green magical ripple extending from the caster's hand to the body of the victim.
However, when the Dark One seems to use it, it covers the victim with a transparent magical ripple. While casting the spell, there's a blueish wave of magic extending from the Dark One's hand.
This appearance may only apply when the caster and the victim are at a distance from each other.[70]
The victim under the spell is shaking in pain, sometimes choking, unable to move or talk.[71]
Solar Flash
Solar Flash is a spell that allows the caster to flash a solar light to make people blind for a short period of time. It first appears in the sixth episode of the fifth season.
This spell has no particular appearance, rather than a flash of light.
Storm Cloud Creation
Storm Cloud Creation is a spell that allows the caster to create a storm cloud to find and kill another person. It first appears in the eighth episode of the spinoff.
It requires the following ingredients: a person's personal belonging. ("Home")
The spell appears as a storm cloud which expands in its size, over time. The cloud will follow the victim until they're struck by a lightning. When that happens, the cloud will retreat. ("Home")
The spell appears as a glowing ripple of magic covering and shielding the area, if disturbed by the touch of an alive being.[72]
The spell will be nullified if the living hold hands with the dead while entering the area. ("Devil's Due")
Basic Protection Spells
Basic Protection Spells are protection spell that allow the caster to protect a location and prevent anyone from entering it. They first appear in the sixth episode of the second season.
Blood Magic-enhanced Protection Spell is a protection spell that allows the caster to seal a location or objects and make anyone unrelated to the caster unable to enter or touch it. It first appears in the first episode of the third season.

Bloodline Containment Spell
Bloodline Containment Spell is a protection spell that allows the caster to trap a person within a building and unable to leave without leaving a member of their bloodline in their place. It first appears in the seventh episode of the seventh season.
The spell appears as a white glowing coat of magic, with a ripple, shielding the building, if disturbed by touch of the trapped person.[78]
When the victim of the spell if replaced by a member of their bloodline, the protection shield breaks by touch, and the previous victim can leave. ("Eloise Gardener")
Cloaking Spell
Cloaking Spell is a protection spell that allows the caster to cloak and hide a location or something from the world. It first appears in the tenth episode of the second season.
The spell appears as a white coat of magic shielding the place where the Dagger is, preventing it from touch.[83]

Heart-controlling Protection Spell

Shadow Protection Spell is a protection spell that allows the caster to protect a location and keep out people who have their shadows in them. It first appears in the eighth episode of the third season.

Spell against Harm is a protection spell that allows the caster to make someone not to be killed by any specific person as long as they remain in the world that the spell has been cast. It first appears in the tenth episode of the second season.

The spell works in the way if someone tries to hurt the shielded person, they can do it, but no harm will come to the said person. An example, when Regina stabbed Snow White, she succeeded physically, but no harm came to Snow. ("The Cricket Game")

Entrapment Reversal Spell is a spell that allows the caster to free those that are trapped in the Sorcerer's Hat. It first appears in the twelfth episode of the fourth season.
Opening Spells is a spell that allows the caster to open a door that is protected by magic. It first appears in the seventeenth episode of the fifth season.
Spell of the Three Genies (Incantation: Incipio.Tres genies in utres. Ego te coniungere. Da mihi virtutem!) is a spell that allows the caster to acquire so much power that he can even change the Laws of Magic. It first appears in the twelfth episode of the spinoff.

Magic Transference
Magic Transference are spells that allow the caster to absorb or transfer the magic from or into an object, person, or spell. They first appear in the ninth episode of the second season.
The spell usually appears as blurred beams of light flowing violently between the object/spell and the person whose magic is being transferred or who is absorbing the magic.
Heart-cursing is curse that allows the caster to kill a person by cursing their hearts in order to keep a dying person alive instead. It first appears in the sixteenth episode of the second season.
It requires the following ingredients: Enchanted Candle over the victim's heart and whispering the victim's name three times
Lip Curse
Lip Curse is a curse that allows the caster to curse a person's lips, so that the next time they kiss a certain person all of that person's magic will be removed. It first appears in the seventeenth episode of the third season.
World-crossing Curse is a curse that allows the caster to prevent anyone to go to a certain world and send them random worlds every time the victim tries to cross worlds. It first appears in the sixteenth episode of the sixth season.
Resurrection is one of the spells that are against the laws of magic that allows the caster to resurrect someone back from the dead. It first appears in the fifteenth episode of the third season.
Time Travel Spell is one of the spells that are against the laws of magic that allows the caster to open a portal into the past. It first appears in the twentieth episode of the third season.
It requires the following ingredients: symbols of Love, Innocence, Wisdom and Courage.
The spell appears as four beams of magic (red, orange, silver and yellow) that swirl into the center of a carved diagram. The portal is a golden vortex.
Love Manipulation
