The Eight-Nation Revolution is a combination of worldwide rebellion efforts taking place in multiple countries as consequence of the Revolutionary Army's invasion of Mary Geoise during the Levely. It was first mentioned by Tensei, head of the Marines' Investigation Unit.[1]
Overview
Following the invasion of Mary Geoise by the Revolutionaries and subsequent murder of Nefertari Cobra, with Sabo being labeled as the perpetrator, the populations of twelve nations around the world decided to take up arms and start local revolutionary efforts of their own to depose their monarchies and stop the payments of the Heavenly Tribute dedicated to the World Nobles, having been inspired by Sabo's actions in particular as they were reported in the news. As consequence of this, eight nations affiliated with the World Government ended up falling to rebel armies, who took advantage of the ongoing Levely at the time to establish new governments while their rulers were absent and the Marines pre-occupied. The remaining four rebellions failed.[1][2]
Among the countries that successfully deposed their monarchies was the Lulusia Kingdom. Its constituents imprisoned Seki and Komane following their return from the Levely.[3]
The Eigis and Tajine Kingdoms also underwent rebellions of their own shortly after the Levely,[4] but it is unknown if they were among the successes or failures of the event.
Aftermath
After Lulusia was liberated from its monarchy, Imu and the Five Elders completely obliterated it from both the map and history, thus rendering the revolution of the country moot. At the same time, Sabo was hiding on a ship near the island and attempting to transmit the information that Imu sat upon the Empty Throne.[3]
Trivia
- During a rally shown in Chapter 1054, flags of the Revolutionary Army and Sabo's jolly roger were shown, as well as a flag with an upside down Marines symbol and a flag with the World Government symbol with an arrow through it.
- Among the flags during the rally is one similar to the Shimotsuki Family's crest.[1]
- The Eight-Nation Revolution was as successful as it was due, in part, to the Marines' World Military Draft, as the weakened militaries of individual nations were unable to properly fend off the revolutionaries.[5]
