Nebulandia is an island in the New World that also functions as a marine base. It is also known as the "Island of Fog". The island is a regular location where the Annual Marine Scientists Convention is held. Currently, Nebulandia's base commander is Proto Zoa.
Geography
The island is essentially a massive caldera (a volcanic crater), with a small peninsula and even smaller islands off its southeastern coast. Due to the crater, the island is well-fortified and difficult to storm. There are also several spires and hills throughout the crater, which have been converted into outposts and turrets for the marines to use in the event of an invasion. In the center of the island is a large geyser, which spews large quantities of sea water in the form of fog at night. Said seawater has been mixed with Seastone, and due to the tides around Nebulandia it isn't diffused out into the ocean. As such, the fog still serves to weaken Devil Fruit users, even though fog normally has no effect on them due to its lower density in comparison to water. Underneath the surface of the island are the marine barracks and research centers. This is where the Annual Marine Scientists Convention is held.[1]
Flora
The produces a vine-like plant, capable of feeding on seawater. As a result of this, the vines have the properties of Seastone. The vines are also triggered by Devil Fruit users coming in close proximity of the vines, causing them to automatically wrap around and restrain them. Whether or not this effect comes from the Seastone in the sea around Nebulandia or if its simply the method to which the vines convert water into Seastone is unknown.
History
Past
Since its inception, Nebulandia had been a common home of the Annual Marine Scientists Convention, due to how well-fortified it is and the amount of anti-Devil Fruit technology there. The base commander, Proto Zoa, researches Devil Fruits and their weaknesses himself.[1] The convention was once again held in Nebulandia in 1581, but the island was infiltrated and attacked by a joint operation between the Everything Pirates and Deep Sea Pirates. This allowed the pirates to steal several of the best inventions from the convention.[2] After a scuffle, the pirates were able to escape the island, much to the detriment of the scientists and marines stationed near the island.[3]
