Include line numbers for every line of the inline diffs on code pages
Open, Needs TriagePublicFeature

Description

On pages with code-based content models (CSS, JS, Lua, ...)., it would be great to place a line number next to every line in the inline diff.

Event Timeline

These are essentially useless for most wikitext pages

Actually, that would also be useful for main content if line numbering (T267911) would be extended to all namespaces (it is already done for some wikis per T280027).

TTO renamed this task from (re-)Include line numbers in the inline diffs to Include line numbers for every line of the inline diffs on code pages.Oct 14 2023, 6:19 AM
TTO updated the task description. (Show Details)

Line numbers are now provided at the top of each hunk thanks to T346460, so I'm narrowing this task to a feature request for code pages specifically.

TTO changed the subtype of this task from "Task" to "Feature Request".Oct 14 2023, 6:21 AM
MusikAnimal subscribed.

This would require a change to wikidiff2 to work on our cluster, which at this stage is outside the scope of the Better-Diffs-2023 project.
