Control and AD groups are controlled for gender, age at death (years), and PMI (postmortem interval in hours) as closely as possible, but there is a significant difference in plaque burden (0 to 3; 0 = none, 1 = sparse, 2 = moderate, and 3 = severe) and Braak stage (0 to 6) [13] between groups, as expected. Values are mean ± standard deviation. Gender indicates the number of subjects of each gender (M, male; F, female) per group.
