: Korotokku) (KRICK-eh-toon) is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in the Generation IV.

Biology

Kricketune is a red bipedal insectoid Pokémon. It has two gray eyes with black pupils, and on its head are two antennae that bend down and get thinner at the round sections. It has a darker red nose and a black mustache. It has two long, thin, digitless arms and short, digitless feet. It has two black wings. 9' it's front, it has three black spots and a light yellow stripe going down, split into two sections, and closer to the legs it is deep red with pale yellow underneath. It has a round body and a thin neck. Kricketune uses its arms to create sound, and they make different sounds depending on its emotion.

Gender differences

Male Kricketune have longer mustaches than the females.

Behavior

Kricketune have melodious cries that are easy on the ears. They are capable of composing melodies on the fly, often of a caliber rivaling that of professional musicians. Kricketune use songs to convey emotions, and are capable of making others around them feel similarly through their music. As they sing, they cross their knife-like arms across their chests. By allowing their cries to resonate within their bellies, they can produce a unique sound that is difficult to mimic with conventional instruments. Some villages hold Kricketune concerts in the autumn, where their wildly variable melodies are rated against one another. In battle, their musical capabilities manifest as the attack Bug Buzz. They use their sharp arms to slash foes that come too close, though they are also known to direct “symphonies” of Kricketot and Kricketune using their arms as well. When mating, suitors use size of their mustaches to display their virility. Then pairs of Kricketune will compose duets they perform together to signify that they both have been “taken.”

Kricketune is the evolved form of Kricketot as of level 10.

• In Generation V, Kricketune is able to learn Struggle Bug via level-up. However, it cannot learn it through TM.
• When slowed down, Kricketune's cry sounds like a cello, an instrument it slightly resembles.
• The Pokédex entry mentions that they have variable cries, however in the games they only have one cry.

Origin

Kricketune is based on a cricket, violin beetle, or mantis. Its body structure may reference the structure of a violin or cello and its arms and antennae resemble a bow, a tool that is used to play said instruments. It also resembles a musical instructor with its wings resembling a cape or long suit, its antennae resembling a mustache, and its arms resembling batons.

Etymology

Kricketune comes from the words cricket and tune.

It's Japanese name, Korotock, comes from koorogi (cricket), tick-tock (the onomatopoeia of a metronome ticking) and kyoku (tune).
