Love Ball

The Love Ball is an item introduced in Generation II.

Effect

The Love Ball is a type of Poké Ball characterized by a pink top with a white heart going up the middle. It has a catch rate of 8 on wild Pokémon if it is either the same species or the opposite gender of the player's Pokémon in battle. If not, the Love Ball has a catch rate of 1, in which case it functions like a regular Poké Ball instead.

In the Generation II games, there is a bug in which the Love Ball is incorrectly programmed to have an increased catch rate for Pokémon of the same gender as the player's Pokémon in battle instead of being the opposite gender.
