Diamond & Pearl arc
Mr. Backlot was a rich person, who owned the Amity Square, where people could walk around it with their Pokémon. Recently, however, a Psyduck was taken, and to handle the situation, Mr. Backlot had invited Cynthia to talk more about that.[1]
Mr. Backlot let Diamond, Pearl and Platinum into his mansion, though the latter assumed it was just a fancy hotel. Nevertheless, Mr. Backlot showed them his garden, and many Pokémon that lived there. Platinum became fascinated, and spent some time in the garden, while Mr. Backlot attended to his guest, Cynthia, who came on his behalf to investigate a crime at Amity Square.[1]
