Chapter plot
Casey takes Henry Sword to a field, where she encountered Peta for the first time. Henry notices it's made of ice; Casey adds that it is indeed that, and came here to catch and study Eiscue. They find a group of Eiscue gathering, and are joined by an odd-looking Mr. Mime. The Eiscue open the stolen Ultra Ball, causing Mr. Rime to come out of it. Henry wonders if these Ice-type Pokémon know each other, to which Casey notices that they are all Mr. Rime's followers, apprentices or even groupies. Henry believes she is right, for Mr. Rime is the Comedian Pokémon. In fact, Mr. Rime performs with Mr. Mime, and even did so since Melony caught it. Casey remembers when she was studying Eiscue, she also glanced at Mr. Rime's performance, and was captivated by it so much she nearly got frozen. However, an Eiscue—Peta—helped her get her warmth back, and she caught it soon after. However, she nevertheless returned to this place before going to Slumbering Weald to watch this performance. Henry realizes that the Eiscue wanted Mr. Rime to return to performing, and Casey suspects that he and Melony were being watched by the Eiscue, as they both carried Mr. Rime in its Poké Ball.
Suddenly, Mr. Rime comes with the frozen cane. Henry Sword dashes off, angrily reminding Mr. Rime that the cane is not finished yet. He takes the cane, which causes the Eiscue to become hostile. Casey facepalms herself, seeing Henry was reckless enough to do that, and goes to help him out. An Eiscue dashes and hits Casey on her hands. However, she is not hurt, and realizes that Eiscue is her Peta. Peta nods, and hugs Schilly, who is ecstatic to have reunited with her lost Pokémon. Henry, who is overwhelmed by the group of Eiscue trying to reach the cane, congratulates Casey, but reminds he still is in trouble. Peta swings around Henry, keeping the rest of the Eiscue away. However, Mr. Rime is still angry, and attacks Henry, who sends Beamyn and Fannyn to keep Mr. Rime away. Henry Sword analyzes the cane for a while, and sees what he has to do to adjust the cane for Mr. Rime. Fannyn emits its psychic power at Mr. Rime, who reflects it back to Fannyn, causing it damage. Casey is astounded that it reflected Hypnosis, seeing the Gym Leader raised this Pokémon well. Beamyn struggles to combat Mr. Rime, but, it, too, collapses from Mr. Rime's power.
While his Pokémon are knocked out, Henry Sword managed to repair the cane. He hands it over to Mr. Rime, reminding while it is not perfect, the cane has been repaired. Mr. Rime examines the cane, and as an Eiscue comes by, Mr. Rime slams the cane on it. Henry is in shock, thinking Mr. Rime does not like the repair. Casey assures him it is fine, for Mr. Rime was testing out the cane's strength, by slamming into Eiscue to break its Ice Face form, and believes he did a good job. Mr. Rime dances around, performing to amuse Mr. Mime and Eiscue. However, Henry does not believe it is good, for the sound the cane is making is off. Mr. Rime gives the cane back to Henry, who sees he is needed to make few more adjustments. Thus, he has the Rotom Phone call Melony. Moments later, Sonia, Marvin, Professor Magnolia and Melony run to Casey. Casey, who is with Henry, is surprised to see so many people having arrived. Professor Magnolia and Marvin took Gordie to the Gym, and when Henry Sword called Melony, Sonia joined the group to shed some exciting news.
Melony turns to Mr. Rime, who does not want to look at Melony. The latter understands that repairing the cane was not enough for it to forgive her. She admits when she watched Mr. Rime's show, she went to battle it. The battle was quick and sudden, and while she caught Mr. Rime, it was unprepared and its cane broke. Casey is surprised that Melony would do that, but the latter reminds that she would offer Mr. Rime a chance to perform to the world, not just a number of Pokémon, and assumed like any performer, it would like that as well. She confesses that she assumes what makes her happy would make others happy, too, and sometimes messed that up. She felt that if she fixed her relation with Mr. Rime, she could fix other stuff, noting that her son is now sick and in bed. Henry Sword admits he is not finished with the repairs, for neither he nor Mr. Rime are satisfied with the repairs. He feels sorry that he could not repair the cane in time for the Gym Battle, as he wanted to test this Gear, too. Melony notes that she has to battle Henry, as Gordie is currently incapacitated. However, she responds that Henry could battle his way to the finals: Sonia adds that, in the tournament, after defeating all the trainers participating in the Gym Challenge, a trainer could face the Gym Leaders and the Champion in the finals to determine the next Champion.
Melony smiles, reminding she could face Henry Sword then. To resolve Mr. Rime's problem, she feels she could leave it in Henry's care until then. She reminds it'd be easier to let Henry work on the cane on the way, and reminds that she could let her Pokémon see the world to express her love to it. Professor Magnolia is uncertain of that, but Sonia shows that Mr. Rime has grown fond a bit towards Henry. Seeing this would be for the best for Mr. Rime and Melony, Casey supports this idea. Without further ado, the group heads to the motorhome towards Circhester. Inside, Marvin asks about Sonia of the news. Sonia reminds Marvin and Casey of the mural that Bede attempt to break, and reports that it was broken. Marvin becomes upset, but Sonia explains that new ruins were found behind the mural. Sonia adds that the mural was added to hide the ruins first, which surprises others. She shows the thing hidden: the statue of two Legendary Pokémon, carrying a sword and a shield. Casey wonders the meaning behind it, and Marvin reminds that there's the story of the Hero and the legend. Sonia explains the theory goes that someone wanted to hide the two Pokémon from the legend, which makes Casey wonder if someone wanted to give all the credit of saving the Galar region to humans. Sonia found more evidence, and explains it is in Bob Uncle's location at Circhester.
Sonia takes them in, even if Casey is tempted to eat the tasty food. Sonia shows another tapestry, like the one from Hammerlocke's vault. However, Casey and Henry Sword notice it looks like it was discarded into a dump, and then hanged at this location. Sonia confirms this, believing someone didn't want this to be shown. At the same time, at Ballonlea, Opal witnesses a trainer coming in, as she didn't expect him to come. The trainer asks of her to spare her the bitterness and cynicism, though him coming here is an act to provoke that. Opal likes this speech, and tells the trainer, Bede, that he has passed.
