Don 30: Juto Hunter

Don 30: Juto Hunter (ジュートのかりゅうど, Jūto no Karyūdo) is the thirtieth episode of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers.

Synopsis

Haruka's aunt, Yuriko, has been kidnapped by the Anoni. If our heroes want her back, they need to capture and isolate the natural enemies of the Anoni: the Juto. On the list of Juto given by the Anoni includes Tsuyoshi's wife, Miho. Tsuyoshi decides to track down Miho, even though he doesn't believe that she is a Juto. Haruka also finds a familiar name on the list…

Plot

Haruka narrates in the recap that Toradora Onitaijin is a great power for the Donbrothers and unbeknownst to them… the enemy is creating a greater struggle for them.

Yuriko Kitou is walking home at night and is suddenly attacked by masked thugs exiting a van. Using her police combat training, she manages to subdue some of her assailants and attempts to arrest them, but she is grabbed by one with a chloroform rag and knocked out. The thugs then take her into the van, with one of them collecting Yuriko’s purse and phone, unmasking to reveal the kidnappers are a group of Anoni.

Haruka is wondering why her aunt is so late coming home as she worked all evening on her improved beef stroganoff recipe for dinner. She gets a call from the kidnappers, who know that she is Oni Sister…

A bit later, Haruka calls an emergency meeting at Cafe Donbura, explaining the kidnapping to her teammates. Taro and Shinichi find it odd that the Anoni would organize like this, since they act as lackeys to the Noto or hide amongst the people most of the time in situations where they encounter them. Haruka states that they want the Donbrothers to capture and contain all the Juto. Tsuyoshi remembers them as the feral human like creatures who attacked them two weeks ago. A customer in the cafe reveals himself to be an Anoni, explaining that they want the Juto contained to stop their kind from being eaten by them, as Anoni are the natural prey of the Juto.

The Donbrothers freak out upon seeing the Anoni with their sunglasses, as the latter politely greets them. Haruka is enraged and tries lunge at the grunt to get information from him about her aunt’s whereabouts, but Taro trips and pins her down with his feet and insists she calm down to hear out the Anoni’s request. The Anoni gives further details on the Juto, including the fact that they are seemingly unkillable, but Haruka tries to lunge at him again and is restrained by Shinichi. The Anoni knows his kind are helpless against this enemy and was hoping that the Donbrothers would lend their strength to stop these beasts.

Haruka angrily says that has absolutely nothing to do with her aunt and to let her go. The Anoni says they needed to get a hostage to get them to cooperate and Haruka is the only one with a family member. Tsuyoshi points out his wife Miho is part of his family, only for the Anoni to avoid discussing it and send a copy of a list to their phones of people suspected of being Juto. The Anoni promises that Yuriko will not be harmed, politely excuses himself and pays his bill and the tab of the others before leaving by teleportation.

Taro is impressed with that specific Anoni being so polite, but Shinichi stresses that now isn’t the time to be impressed. Upon seeing Miho’s name on the list, Tsuyoshi gets upset and wonders why she is suspected of being a Juto. Haruka sees the name of Shizuka Hanamura on the list and seems to recognize that name.

At a mansion, a stern and tied up Yuriko tells her kidnappers they will get nothing for holding her hostage, only to then ask for the caviar on the table. She is being treated remarkably well, being fed by her guard a gourmet meal. A waiter Anoni then serves her the second course, a plate of foie gras. The Anoni who spoke with the Donbrothers arrives and apologizes for troubling Yuriko, hoping to make her time with them as comfortable as possible. All three Anoni are still in human form and Yuriko checks them out, admitting in her thoughts and narration that they are attractive and also admits this is a “good kidnapping”.

The next day, Tsuyoshi is watching Miho from a distance while she works at the salon. He is in denial about her being a Juto and thinks that the Anoni got their information wrong about her. He hides as Miho leaves work and tries to tail her without being seen.

Meanwhile, Haruka visits the house of her ex-boyfriend Hitoshi, as his mother Shizuka is on the list of people suspected of being a Juto. She realizes that Hitoshi has not been showing up at her school lately and then hides in the bushes when Mrs. Hanamura exits her house. Haruka then silently tails Shizuka from a distance.

Tsuyoshi continues following his wife and witnesses her seemingly picking up a young male, with Tsuyoshi getting upset and thinking Miho is cheating on him. He races out into the street to follow them and is almost hit by a van.

Haruka follows Mrs. Hanamura into the supermarket, only to witness her tear open a package of raw meat and devour it savagely. Haruka gets scared and is soon discovered by Shizuka, she tries to act casual but is grabbed and Shizuka tries to have a conversation with her while shaking her.

Tsuyoshi confronts Miho about the man that she is with and cries, but she tries to explain and later at work confirms that the man she was with was a model to test out new hairstyles. Tsuyoshi says she should have just asked him instead of being shy about it. He volunteers for trying out the hairstyle.

At the mansion, Yuriko is reading a magazine with the help of an Anoni turning the pages while another massages her shoulders. Her bliss ends when the Detective Sayama Juto attacks and she is knocked unconscious. The Anoni try to run, but more Juto appear and surround them, all of the Anoni are then devoured. Detective Sayama then searches the room and finds Yuriko’s phone…

Shizuka explains to Haruka that Hitoshi had been feeling ill lately so she sent him to the countryside to recuperate. Haruka is suspicious, and even more so when offered sukiyaki without meat despite Shizuka claiming that it will be served with meat. She panics and thinks that Shizuka wants to eat her, but their tense conversation is interrupted when the Detective Sayama Juto calls Haruka on Yuriko’s phone. He snarls and she crawls on the floor to sneak out of the Hanamura residence. Shizuka snarls wildly in anger when Haruka escapes, confirming that she was a Juto.

Haruka calls another emergency meeting at Cafe Donbura, informing everyone that the Juto now have Yuriko as a hostage. Tsuyoshi wonders what happened while sporting a new hairdo with curlers on his head, explaining to his perplexed compatriots that he is helping his wife at the salon with her styling.

Taro asks what the Juto’s demands are and despite Haruka not knowing, Detective Sayama suddenly appears in the cafe eating ramen and states the demand: hand over Murasame to them. Taro understands what that means, they want to take away the only weapon that can stop them. Haruka tries to approach the Juto slowly armed with a napkin holder, asking about her aunt, only for the Juto to roar loudly and scare her. After Kaito gives the vile feline a plate of curry that he quickly scarfs down, the Juto tells them to bring the sword to the manor in Taitan and runs off, forcing the Donbrothers to pay for the creature’s meal.

At a hibachi restaurant, a customer named Koyama asks for more hot chili sauce after he empties the bottle. The waiter advises against the customer’s request as the sauce he already put on his meat is enough and having more cannot be good for him. Koyama says he is fine and really loves spicy food, snatching away the waiter’s bottle and smothering all of the hot chili pepper sauce onto his grilled meat, eating it. He still isn’t satisfied as the sauce lacks the intense heat he desires, wanting more hot and spicy food and the aura of a Hitotsuki soon begins to take over him.

Tsubasa dreams of a memory where he and Natsumi were at the very bench he is sleeping on until Sononi startles him. She proposes an alliance with the Donbrothers to take down the Juto, revealing that Murasame is in Sonoza’s possession and with it they can finally end them. She tells him to relay the message to the rest of the team and meet her and Sonoza at the mansion in Taitan in one hour, then departs through an invisible door.

Before Tsubasa can get to delivering the message, Koyama has transformed into the Flashman Hitotsuki: Chouseishinki. He is devouring humans or “spicy food“ as he perceives it. The Donbrothers arrive via teleport, though a frustrated Haruka says they have no time to fight the Hitotsuki as she is worried about her aunt. The team blasts Chouseishinki until he fires rainbow colored shooting stars, knocking them down. Inu Brother arrives and blasts the stars, delivering the message while he is there. This distracts the team and Chouseishinki gets away, with Haruka too focused on her aunt and breaking away from the team to rescue Yuriko on her own.

Tsubasa, Tsuyoshi and Shinichi go after her but Taro is stopped by Miho in her Crane Juto personality. She wishes to speak with the survivor of the Don Clan, explaining what her kind are and the nature of each type. She requests the Donbrothers stand down and she will handle the Cat Juto. Miho says that the Juto are not evil, just following instincts and Taro thinks that she might be telling the truth. Miho then gives a disturbing revelation for a reason why the Rangers should not attack: that the Juto are copying humans and if they die, then the humans they copy will die as well due to how they are linked. She reveals the nature of the Penguin Juto before leaving but the screen cuts away as Miho walks off, omitting what she said to Taro from the audience.

Haruka recklessly storms towards the mansion on her own, while Miho approaches the back door after taking out a guard. Haruka hides below the front door and sees her aunt unconscious, she prepares herself to charge in gun ablazing, but Miho’s presence is detected and distracts all the Cat Juto. This allows Haruka to sneak in undetected and untie Yuriko, carrying her out to safety.

The Cats all gather near the back door as Miho enters with the outside guard choking in her grip. She orders them to cease their violent behavior and that they were told to remain inconspicuous, forcing them back with a single blow of her hand. Sayama tells her she doesn’t get to boss them around and they fight her. Miho uses her crane origami to hold them back.

Sononi and Sonoza are waiting outside for the Donbrothers, with the latter unsealing the Ninjarksword to use at full power. Tsuyoshi, Shinichi and Tsubasa meet up with the Noto and ask where Oni Sister is, but they don’t know and some of the Cats make it outside and alert the rest of their kind. Sayama knocks Miho unconscious before she can do anything about the Rangers being there despite her warning. Haruka finds an area to hide Yuriko safely until the fight is over.

Taro arrives and calls off the attack and truce, ordering the Ranger trio to stand down. Sononi and Sonoza are not pleased with this and attack the Donbrothers, while Jiro is busy handling Chouseishinki nearby. Sonoza uses a devastating attack with the Ninjarksword and the two Noto then escape. Jiro finishes off Chouseishinki with the Lightning Dragon Flash, excited he defeated a Hitotsuki again on his own as Taro gives him a score of 65 points out of 100.

Just as Chouseishinki becomes Chouseishinking, both Tsuyoshi and Tsubasa see Miho unconscious inside the mansion. Though Tsuyoshi is confused about what she is doing there and worries about her and Tsubasa wonders why Natsumi is in the house, Taro orders them to focus and combine into Don Onitaijin and Jiro becomes Toradoragonjin. Chouseishinking throws a miniature sun at the two robots and they barely manage to repel it. With such power, Taro orders everyone to combine into Toradora Onitaijin and they quickly dispatch Chouseishinking with an equestrian variant of the DonBros Fantasia.

With the Hitotsuki defeated and purified, the Cats have all abandoned the mansion and Tsuyoshi races to Miho’s side. He resuscitates her, with her reverting back to her human persona and confused how she got to this place. Tsuyoshi cries and hugs his wife, relieved she is alright. Tsubasa sees “Natsumi” with Tsuyoshi and is heartbroken, unable to comprehend what is going on as he hides from her.
