Gaku Washio


Gaku Washio (鷲尾 岳, Washio Gaku) is GaoYellow (ガオイエロー, Gao Ierō) and the former leader turned second-in-command of the Gaorangers. For most of the series, he is simply called Yellow (イエロー, Ierō) by his teammates.

Gaku is 23 years old at the beginning of Gaoranger.

History

Gaoranger

He came from Oyado Ward in Tokyo and used to be a troublemaker well known by the ward department's police officers, one of them was officer Nishizaki. Gaku is a former Air Self Defense Force pilot and was recruited by Tetomu during a flight mission, after which he became missing in action. Because of this, he bleached his hair to become less recognizable. As a pilot, he is good at skydiving and English and his hobby is playing the ukulele. He was the first Gaoranger to be chosen who worked a year alone with only Tetomu. Gaku was the one who insisted that the Gaorangers refer to each other by color and not use their personal names. He is in charge of forming any leftover parts for the Gaorangers' Mecha formations.

Gaku was the prominent member of the Gaoranger team and spent multiple time with his fellow teammates. They came through the multiple dangerous and brave adventures with the Gaorangers against the Orgs. Gaku initially had a rivalry with Kakeru, especially in terms of their leadership, because Kakeru often argued and quarrelled with him, but slowly and later throughout the season their relationships were improved and became better. Gaku and his fellow Gaoranger friends confronted and fought multiple Orgs throughout the series, such as the three Highness Dukes Shuten, Ura and Rasetsu, and hardly with the extreme efforts, the multi-colored heroes managed to defeat all the evil demons, even if it costed them much of the powers and sometimes the Rangers were on the verge of death. However, thankfully the Gaorangers frequently found the way out of the almost unsolvable situations by working together and by using their smart brains. Arguably their most prominent enemy in the season was the wolf-themed Duke Org Rouki, who was the brainwashed Ranger from the past named Tsukumaro Ogami. Rouki was manipulated by Ura into fighting the Rangers and Gaku and others had a very much time needed to undo the Org curse from Tsukumaro's body. Thankfully, Gaku and his comrades managed to free Tsukumaro from his curse and the Silver Ranger joined them afterwards.

Gaku also had a difficult and complicated relationships with their enigmatic friend, a mysterious boy, named Futaro. Gaku often spent time with him, but the Gaorangers were unaware that Futaro was in reality a human avatar of their patron and superior GaoGod. Gaku was shocked to see the true nature of his young friend, when Futaro's true nature was revealed. The Gaorangers were also horrified when GaoGod was apparently manipulated by Rasetsu into turning the benevolent deity against them. However, in reality GaoGod wasn't tricked by the evil demonic Duke and remained an ally to the Gaorangers to the very end. Gaku and his comrades met their final extremely difficult battle against the immensely powerful Org Duke named Senki, who was their most powerful enemy ever. The Gaorangers lost all of their Mecha during the battle with him and only managed to defeat Senki by using all of their Power Animals and destroying Senki's Org heart. After the final battle against the Orgs, he came back to the Air Force and returned to his natural hair color.

A shadow-clone GaoYellow was created by DoroDoro's ninja powers as part of the Shade Rangers. The Gaorangers could not destroy these shadows without killing themselves in the process. Super Sentai Versus Series Theater

Gaku's appearances in the "Versus Series", Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai and Hurricaneger vs. Gaoranger, are featured in the Super Sentai Versus Series Theater, hosted by the heroes of Tensou Sentai Goseiger. Moune (Gosei Yellow) also dresses as Gaku in the Gaoranger cosplay.

Gokaiger

Legend War

Years later, Gaku fought alongside not only his own team, but every single Sentai Ranger in existence, against the Empire of Zangyack when it attacked the Earth in the Great Legend War. After fighting against hundreds of Gormin and their Sugormin commanders, Akarenger noticed the fleet moving towards them. He gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to sacrifice their powers to wipe out the first invasion's armada. The GaoYellow powers are later used by Luka Millfy via the Ranger Keys. A copy of GaoYellow was summoned alongside his team by Stacaesar through the Gaoranger Dark Sentai Gear to attack Kaito and Gaon. Another manifestation of GaoYellow was summoned alongside his team by Gaon through the Gaoranger Sentai Gear which allowed the Kikainoid Zenkaigers to use the Gaorangers animal fighting styles to fight Stacaesars Gorengers and Gaorangers copies. Personality

At first, Gaku was very serious and humorless, he was upset that Kakeru had been chosen as leader instead of him and he was demoted to second-in-command. As time went on, Gaku opened up, and became especially close to Kakeru, often teasing him good nature. He also has a tendency to speak in English with a clear Japanese accent still in his words.

Due to his Power Animal being a bird, Gaku refuses to eat bird meat. He seems to be the only one to have this tendency; neither Soutaro nor Kai have shown any problem eating beef and fish, respectively.

Ranger Key

GaoYellow Ranger Key
The GaoYellow Ranger Key.

The GaoYellow Ranger Key (ガオイエローレンジャーキー, Gao Ierō Renjā Kī) is Gaku Washio's personal Ranger Key and what became of his powers after he along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War.

This key along with the majority of the Ranger Keys were collected by the Red Pirates and later used by the Gokaigers. The GaoYellow Ranger Key was mainly used by Luka Millfy (Gokai Yellow), who used it to fight as GaoYellow. It was also used by Captain Marvelous (Gokai Red) on one occasion.

The Gaoranger keys, along with all the Ranger Keys of the first 33 Super Sentai, were briefly taken by the Black Cross King and turned into Ranger puppets that were fought by the Gokaigers and the Goseigers. Splitting up, the puppet GaoYellow was defeated as part of a group of surviving Yellow warrior keys by Gokai Yellow and Super Gosei Yellow.
