Red (Angry Birds)

Red is the main protagonist of the Angry Birds series. He was introduced in 2009, as the icon of the original game and a core member of the original flock, as well as the leader. Red is typically the central character in the Angry Birds games. After his first appearance in Poached Eggs, he has become a prominent character for the series. He hates the pigs the most, which are the enemies of the franchise.

He appeared in nearly all Angry Birds media to date except for Angry Birds Stella Toons, Rocket Science Show, Fun Game Coding and Angry Birds Blues.

Appearance

Red is a northern cardinal with red feathers that cover most of his body, hence his name. On his head, he has two small red feathers with a circular end, and on his tail, there are two short black feathers with square ends. His belly is peach-colored, and he has small, crimson spots ordered in a horizontal line across his face. In the Wreck the Halls short in late 2011, he was slightly modified to have him with a more cartoonish look. This design was not used very often since then until Angry Birds Toons in 2013, and has become the most common design since then.

Originally, Red had a spherical body without showing any limbs at all. After the release of The Angry Birds Movie, he received an anthropomorphic, pill-shaped body with his head directly connected to his torso without a neck. His crest and tail feathers are also much longer and detailed than before. In addition, his irises were tinted brown. Future releases would occasionally switch between Red's new body and his old one.

In Angry Birds Dream Blast, Red was re-designed again to resemble a hatchling. In this game, he is much shorter, with a round body and small limbs. Angry Birds Journey uses a similar design for its trailers and promotional artwork, although it was somehow more simplified. In the levels of said game, he uses his design from Angry Birds Toons, though modified to have him with a small beak, large eyes, and brown irises.

Personality

Red is a short-tempered person. The angriest of all the birds, he is not above using violence when someone annoys him. He is someone who takes his duties very seriously, not willing at all to leave them aside. However, he also likes to discover new things when he is in a day off.

Hey, Red! How are 'ya?"
"Oh! I'm horrible!Early Bird and Red, The Angry Birds Movie

During his earliest years, Red was an antisocial person who was rejected by the other birds.[2] With an unstable anger (despite him trying to state otherwise), he had always hated being disrespected and made fun of, as he took jokes very seriously. This would result in him getting enraged and/or sad. As he grew up, he also became someone who could get frustrated by anything, acting rude in front of other people not matter how friendly they were towards him. However, after he stopped Leonard from cooking the eggs from Bird Island, Red became much more outgoing and was approved by the rest of the birds, which allowed him to control his anger issues much more than before.[3] Nevertheless, even after these incidents, it was shown that Red could still get angry at anything, sometimes cursing himself for his actions,[4] and showing an open hatred for ridiculous holidays.[5] He himself has admitted that he still suffered from anger issues from time to time. However, he is not ungrateful and appreciates the effort others make for him.[6]

Since he moved to Piggy Island, Red has been very fond of the three eggs he sometime ago found there. As he believes that they will be very important for his species' survival,[7] he takes good care of them and is not willing to leave them alone; once, he was shown spending entire seasons only looking after them.[8] Whenever he is left alone with them, he softly strokes them and tells them bedtime stories, being one of the rare moments where he shows a soft side.[2] Similarly, he spends hours in the morning cleaning and polishing his propierties, specially the slingshot, and constantly checks that its band is perfectly elastic.[2] However, he can easily lose his temper whenever something, such as an insect[9][10] or a leaf,[11] touches either the eggs or the slingshot. He also returns to his usual serious self when others come in.[2]

Ever since the first time he met them, Red has had a mutual dislike for the pigs, being skeptical about them during their stay on Bird Island.[3] After he and his friends moved to Piggy Island, his hatred for them was just aggravated. As a result of all the times they tried to steal the eggs, Red has become even more determined to keep them safe, which has bordered him on schizophrenia when he is not near them; a notable example of this was shown when, while he was having a forced vacation, Red started to have hallucinations where he saw all surrounding objects as eggs.[8] A similar case was when he saw everything round as pigs, though this was due to his rage after he defeated a group of them.[12] This also made him very paranoid, interpreting small things as a declaration of war, such as imagining the sound of the wind as a battle cry of the pigs.[2] Despite his friends' best attempts of making him forget about them for a while, he never managed to take them out of his mind.[2] He even is enraged by the smallest sight of green due to this.[2]

Red, Angry Birds Comics (2016) #1Huh? Me? Lonely? Never.

While serious and hostile, Red likes being with other people, and appreciates their company. He is afraid of losing his friends and being ignored by others, just like in his childhood and adolescence, though he keeps this fact a secret to everyone. It has been confirmed that Red never managed to get rid of this trauma; a notable example of this was when Chuck asked him if he feared something. While Red said that he was not scared of anything, he had some flashbacks of him being left alone by others.[13] Another example was when his friends were preparing him a surprise party for his birthday. Unaware of this, Red thought that his friends had died during an incident, or that they had abandoned him. However, when he realized that they were completely fine, he was so happy to see them that he shedded a tear.[14] Despite him sometimes treating his friends badly, Red respects and trusts them, and is not above leaving aside his duties to visit them, such as when he wanted to go to Rio de Janeiro to visit Blu and Jewel.[15]

Angry Birds Birdsonality Test (2012)

You're a natural leader: strong-willed, outspoken, and decisive. Knowledgeable and self-confident, you can intimidate other people who may mistake your confidence for arrogance.

Angry Birds website (2014-2016)

LEADER OF THE PACK
Red’s special skills are his leadership qualities, which at first seems feeble compared to the brute force of Terence or explosive power of Bomb. But wait! Someone has to organize this odd flock of birds! He’s also a bit highly strung and sees small things as a declaration of war – like hearing the sound of the wind and thinking it’s the battle cry of the pig army. So that’s kind of intense!

CALM DOWN, BIRD!
The whole flock tries to keep Red calm and relaxed by telling him to follow a strict program of herbal tea, soothing bath salts and deep-breathing exercises. But this only takes the edge off his anger, and it really doesn’t take much to remind Red of those little pigs trying to get their dirty trotters on the eggs. Even the sight of something green can enrage him!

WAX ON, WAX OFF
Red always needs to keep his possessions in the best possible condition. Like a proud dad, he spends hours every morning waxing the slingshot and making sure the band is perfectly elasticated. But if a dirty leaf lands on the sling then his eye starts twitching to show he’s edging closer to boiling point. Now he has to re-apply several more coats of polish to make it perfect again!

EGGS-TRA SENSITIVE
Red also lets his guard down when he’s alone with the eggs and can be seen softly stroking their shells and telling them bedtime stories. It’s another rare moment of sensitivity and it reveals something of a softer side in him. But when the other flock members come a knocking, something clicks inside and instantly he’s back to being his usual serious and alert self.

LIKES
Protecting eggs, planning strategies for battle and perfecting his poker face.

DISLIKES
King Pig, unexpected noises and anything that’s green or has a snout.

ANGRIEST BIRD
On an island occupied by the cheeriest birds imaginable, Red is a bit of an outcast. His cynical outlook has kept him at odds with the other birds, but a bit of cynicism might be just what they need.

Angry Birds website (2022-present), (Angryverse)

Classic

The O.G. Angry Bird, Red has become famous for channeling his anger and directing it at the green, egg-stealing pigs. Despite his aloof demeanor, Red has become a hero in the bird community, using his leadership skills to rally the entire flock of Angry Birds against their piggy rivals. To Red, keeping the eggs safe is the highest priority – even if that means he has to maybe interact with others from time to time.

Movie

The angriest of them all. Following the events of the first film, Red is the undisputed hero of Bird Island, a badge of honor he wears proudly. But don’t let the heroic exterior fool you. Red is still different from the other birds and though improved is still lacking some of the basic social skills needed to fully connect with other birds. And true to the form, he masks his discomfort with sarcasm and an aloof attitude.

Dream

Red is a short temper: It doesn’t take that much to make him angry. Small things like a wind that is a bit stronger than usual, or lose a round on his favorite game, are enough to make Red go furious. Despite being stressed and having an unusual sense of humor, Red has a good heart and the spirit of a leader… although sometimes he really wants to kick everyone in the team.

Journey

As the O.G. Angry Bird, despite Red’s aloof demeanor he’s a hero in the bird community, using his leadership skills to rally fellow birds toward the current challenge, whatever it may be. Always maintaining a clear sense of the flock’s goals, Red inspires confidence.
Favorite color: Do you have to ask?

Summer Madness

13-year-old Red is a classic teenage rebel with many causes – mostly righting the injustices he sees around him. Red hates arbitrarily imposed rules and that’s why he LOVES summer camp – the escape from school, teachers, lessons and boring assignments. Most of the time at Camp Splinterwood, Red is a fun-loving guy, but when he feels someone is being unfair, overbearing or a bully, Red levels the playing field… Sometimes literally!

History

Angry Birds

In Angry Birds, and its Chinese version, Red appears as one of the main playable characters, first making his appearance in the very first level of Poached Eggs, or the first level of Tutorial in the newest versions. He would later appear in every other episode as a playable character, except in The Big Setup. In the levels and most cutscenes, he appears in his first design, though the card of Tutorial, the shop, the profiles of The Mighty League, and the cutscenes of Piggy Farm and Jurassic Pork have him in his design from Angry Birds Toons.

In gameplay, Red is a common bird used mostly to weaken buildings due to him being rather weak, losing his momentum instantly when he destroys glass. However, the Power Potion and the King Sling power-ups can make him stronger. When tapping onto the screen when Red is launched, he will scream, but this will not do anything. Each Red the player does not use to complete the levels will award them with a bonus of 10.000 points.

In Red's Mighty Feathers, and some of the levels of Flock Favorites and Golden Eggs, Red was transformed after being surroundered by some of the Mighty Eagle's feathers. When tapping anywhere onto the screen when this Red is launched, he will head towards said direction until he crashes onto something. Nonetheless, he is still as weak as in his normal state. This version of Red also appears as the only playable character in the Egg Defender minigame, in an unlimited number. Here, the player will have to use the least amount of Reds as possible to destroy the pigs' vehicles and prevent them from stealing the egg. Unlike in other episodes, the player cannot use power-ups on Red in this minigame due to them being disabled here.

Angry Birds Seasons

In Angry Birds Seasons, and its Chinese version, Red is a playable character first introduced in the first level of Trick or Treat, or the first level of Hammier Things in the most recent versions of the international version. While the levels and the level selection screens until South Hamerica have him in his design from the original Angry Birds, the level selection screens from Power-Up Test Site, Ham Dunk, Tropigal Paradise, and Fairy Hogmother have him in his design from Angry Birds Toons; while, in the level selection screens from Marie Hamtoinette and Piggywood Studios, he is seen in his design from The Angry Birds Movie. In addition, in the international version of the game, since October 2015, Red can be given optional Bird Hats to wear in the levels, though these are entirely cosmetics.

In gameplay, Red has the same strength as in the original Angry Birds, and, like in said game, can be powered up with the Power Potion. He also appears as the powerup Homing Bird, and the Powerbird Telebird. Each Red the player does not use to complete the levels will award them with a bonus of 10.000 points.

Homing Bird

The Homing Bird only appears as a power-up in Angry Birds Seasons. He does not appear normally in the levels, though the player can summon him as long as they have one. However, they can only use him once per level. The Homing Bird can also be used for free in the Power-Up Test Site. The Homing Bird can be obtained by buying him at the shop or by popping a pig in a gift.

When using the Homing Bird in gameplay, the current bird on the slingshot will be replaced with the Homing Bird, who will be surroundered by a green radar. While he does nothing when the player taps onto the screen when he is launched, the Homing Bird will automatically head towards the first enemy that is in contact with his radar. In this state, the Homing Bird will easily be able to cut though materials until he reaches the _target. In addition, he can be made much stronger and larger if the player uses the Power Potion on him. However, the Homing Bird will be unable to use his ability whenever he collides with an object, and will cancel his movement if he collides with something he cannot destroy.

The costs of the Homing Bird at the shop are as follows:

Cost (in Bird Coins) Description
x2 x10 x40
70 300 1000 Heads for the first pig to enter his radar!

Telebird

The Telebird only appears in Angry Birds Seasons as one of the two Powerbirds. He was added in October 2015 as part of the Invasion of the Egg Snatchers update. He appears as a playable character in Power-Up Test Site, and can be used in any other level as long as the player has one. The Telebird can be obtained by buying him at the Shop, by completing Quests, or by random chance by popping Minion Pigs with gifts. He can also be bought in the pause menu in a normal level.

When the Telebird is used in gameplay, the bird on the slingshot will hop off it to give way to the Telebird, who will appear in a vortex. When he is launched, the player can hold onto the screen and move the finger to move a _target while the Telebird will move in slow motion. When the player releases the finger or the Telebird hits something, he and the surrounding objects will warp to the _target. However, the player will be unable to use this move if the Telebird hits something before they put their finger on the screen.

By using the Telebird enough times, or by spending Bird Coins at the Shop, the Telebird will level up, allowing him to warp more objects. The costs of the Telebird at the Shop are as follows:

Costs (in Bird Coins)
x2 x10 x40
180 750 2400

Angry Birds Rio

In the "Rio" storyline of Angry Birds Rio, Red and the other birds were all kidnapped and sent to a lair in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The being responsible of the kidnapping, an anthropomorphic cookatoo named Nigel, showed up and revealed that he had kidnapped Red and his flock to sell them in exchange of one hundred thousand dollars, due to them being part of an "exceptionally rare species".[16] Seeing many other birds trapped in the lair as well, Red and his comrades broke free and liberated the caged birds, including two macaws named Blu and Jewel, who were united by handcuffs. Red and his friends, alongside Blu and Jewel, escaped to a jungle as Nigel sent his marmosets to go after them.

After venturing through the jungle and defeating the marmosets and Nigel himself, Red and his group met Rafael, a friend of Blu, who guided them to a beach where they could find Luiz, a bulldog who could take the handcuffs out of Blu and Jewel. After going to the beach, they found the bulldog, who managed to separate the macaws from each other. However, Jewel was soon after caught by Nigel.

That night, Red and his flock ended up in the middle of a carnival, where they defeated Mauro, the leader of the marmosets, and found Jewel, alongside many other kidnapped birds, hidden in a chicken-like vehicle. Just as Blu was about to free his friend, he was caught by Nigel, who escaped with him and the other birds as Red and his friends went after them. Ending up at an airplane, the birds managed to get aboard one plane that had Blu, Jewel and Nigel. After freeing the other birds, Red and his comrades had a final showdown against Nigel. When the cookatoo was defeated, he tried to escape, only to be caught by one of the plane's propellers, damaging it. Despite the odds, Red and his flock managed to control the plane and crash-land on Piggy Island, right before Foreman Pig and a Minion Pig stole their eggs.

In the "Rio 2" storyline, Red and his friends received a postcard from Blu and Jewel, inviting them to go to Rio de Janeiro to visit them. Accepting the invitation, the birds put themselves inside a wooden box that was supposed to be sent to the city. However, they were sent to many different locations throughout the world, and even ended up on the Moon, much for Red's wrath. From there, they entered the earth's atmosphere and landed at the outsides of Rio as they watched the a firework display, for their pleasure.[17] However, they were soon after forced to deal with the remaining hordes of marmosets. Eventually ending up in a harbor, Red and his comrades freed some birds and dolphins, before committing the error of freeing Nigel himself, who had somehow survived the past incident. Later, on a lake, Red and his flock managed to throw Nigel to the waters. They and Blu later dealt with the remaining marmosets.

In gameplay, Red has the same strength as in past games, though he can be even stronger with the Power Potion. In the "Rio" segment, he uses his design from the original Angry Birds, while the "Rio 2" episodes have him in his design from Angry Birds Toons. He is first used in the first level of Smugglers' Den, or in the first level of Playground in the newer versions. When tapping onto the screen when Red is launched, he will scream, but this will not do anything. Each Red the player does not use to complete the levels will award them with a bonus of 10.000 points.

In addition, Red is featured as the power-up Samba Burst. Here, he will be wearing a fruit hat, and will have a happy expression. When he collides onto any surface, he will make all the surrounding objects shake and launch them.

Samba Bird

Samba Bird

In Angry Birds Rio, the Samba Bird is a bird who only appears in the Samba Burst power-up which can be used in any level.

When the Samba Bird is used in gameplay, the current bird on the slingshot will be replaced by a happy Red wearing a hat with fruit on it. When he collides with any surface, he makes any materials and/or Marmosets/Caged Birds dance to the rhythm for a few seconds then it stops and he then falls on the floor.

Angry Birds Space

Super Red

Red appears as Super Red[18] in Angry Birds Space. At the start of the events of the game, he and his friends were taking care of their eggs as usual, until they spotted a wormhole in the sky and, falling from it, Ice Bird and an eggsteroid. Eventually, they saw a large metallic claw fall from the wormhole, which grabbed a chunk of soil with the eggsteroid and the left with it. Furious, Ice Bird used the group's slingshot to enter the wormhole. While Red and his friends initially did not care about this, they soon after found out that their eggs were stoen as well. Enraged, they used the slingshot to enter the wormhole as well. They soon after found themselves in space, with new transformations, stopping King Pig from stealing the eggsteroids.

Bad Piggies

In gameplay, Red first appears in the seventeenth level of Flight in the Night. He would later appear in most later levels of the episodes, as well as in the first level (and then later) of Tusk 'til Dawn and the last levels of The Road to El Porkado. He commonly appears as one single bird, and it is very rare to see him in mass (apart from a few levels in Flight in the Night, or with other birds such as Chuck and the Blues. At first, he will be sleeping, though he can be woken up with the noise of the player's vehicle. If the camera is not showing Red, an icon showing his location and if he is about to be woken up will appear. If Red is awake, he will try to detect the player's vehicle's presence (or the pig himself, usually he has to be in the vehicle to wake him up. Engine noise with no pig will not affect him, or any other birds.). If he succeeds, he will jump onto the slingshot and launch himself towards the player's vehicle. Red is quite strong, and can damage fragile vehicles, unless the player uses the Super Glue on them.

Bad Piggies Build

Angry Birds Star Wars

While Red does appears in Angry Birds Star Wars as again the main character, his design was used to resemble two characters from the Star Wars franchise.

Luke Skywalker
Red Skywalker

Luke appears as the main protagonist in Angry Birds Star Wars. While buying supplies for his farm on Tatooine, Luke bought R2-D2 and C-3PO from some Jawa Birds. The robots told him that his sister, Princess Leia, was kidnapped by Darth Vader, and held captive aboard the Death Star.[19] Luke then made his way through Tatooine, defeating the hordes of Tusken Raiders attacking him. However, he was later knocked down by some Tusken Raiders. Fortunately, Obi-Wan Kenobi came in and saved him. The duo then went to a cantina, where they met Han Solo and Chewbacca. The group then used the Mighty Falcon to go to outer space. There, they tracked the location of the Death Star and headed straight to it. The heroes were also aided by the Blue Squadron. Aboard the space station, the heroic group saved Leia and then destroyed the Death Star's main reactor, causing a chain reaction that destroyed the whole station.

Some time later, Luke and his allies would aid in the battle against Darth Vader on Hoth. They would later go to the asteroid field of the planet, having a battle against some Mynhogs and later escaping. The group later went to Cloud City to visit Han's friend, Lando Birdissian, only to discover that Darth Vader and his minions were after them. After a battle against Vader, Han was frozen in carbonite. Luke later had a battle against Darth Vader, who confessed him that he was his father, leaving Luke dumbfounded. Luke would still win the battle however, and would later go to Dagobah to get some training from Yoda. After this, Luke became a Jedi, and was granted the green lightsaber.

A short time later, Luke would go back to Tatooine to save Leia and Han from Jabba the Hutt. On the Moon of Endor, he and his allies also destroyed one of Darth Vader's bases, and managed to track the location of the new Death Star 2. The group managed to weaken the defenses of the station, allowing them to get aboard of it. There, Luke had a battle against Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. In the battle, Vader suddenly had a change of heart and defeated Palpatine for good, though this left him severally injured. Luke then took Vader's armor out, allowing him to see his face for the first time. However, he and his allies escaped the Death Star 2 after a chain reaction that had occurred started to destroy it. Luke and his friends then celebrated the Pork Side's permanent defeat.

In gameplay, Luke is first playable in level 1-1 of Tatooine. While initially not having any abilities, when the player gets to 1–8, Luke will be able to use his lightsaber to damage enemies. When the player launches Luke and taps anywhere onto the screen, he will swing his lightsaber 180 grades once, destroying objects and killing the enemies it touches. Luke will also be able to use this ability when he is hit, though the player will only have one second to use it. When completing all levels of Path of the Jedi, Luke will receive another ability upgrade, this time replacing his lightsaber with a green, longer one. Not only will Luke's lightsaber be much stronger, but it will also have a larger attack radius.

In Angry Birds Star Wars II, while not making any appearance in the story, Luke appears as an extra character who can be used as a power-up in any level of the game. In gameplay, he appears as three separate characters: Pilot Luke, Endor Luke and Jedi Luke, all of them being Bird Side characters. They can be obtained by buying them at the shop, at random chance by melting carbonite, or by opening gifts.

When the player launches Pilot Luke in gameplay using the slingshot, they will be able to tap the screen once to make Luke swing his lightsaber 180 grades once, being able to destroy anything and kill any enemy it touches. Pilot Luke can also perform this attack when he is hit, though the player will only have one second to use it before they are unable to do so. In addition, getting 100000 points by using Pilot Luke will unlock a level in Reward Chapter for him.

The costs of Pilot/Endor Luke at the shop are as follows:

Product Cost (in Credits)
+10 400
+30 800
+100 1500
Permanent 2200

When launching Endor Luke by using the slingshot, the player will be able to tap onto the screen to make him swing his lightsaber 180 grades twice. He can also perform this attack when he is hit, though the player will only have one second to use it before they are unable to do so. In addition, getting 100000 points by using Endor Luke will unlock a level in Reward Chapter for him. The costs of Endor Luke at the shop are the same as those of Pilot Luke.

When launching Jedi Luke by using the slingshot, the player will be able to tap onto the screen to make him swing his lightsaber 180 grades three times. He can also perform this attack when he is hit, though the player will only have one second to use it before they are unable to do so. In addition, getting 200000 points by using Jedi Luke will unlock a level in Reward Chapter for him.

The costs of Jedi Luke at the shop are as follows:

+10 500
+30 1000
+100 1500

Darth Vader

Lard Vader

Darth Vader appears as the main antagonist in Angry Birds Star Wars. In the game, after finishing the construction of the Death Star, he kidnapped Princess Leia in hopes of gathering information about The Egg. However, Leia refused to tell him about The Egg, much for his anger, and left her trapped in a room with R2-D2, unaware that the latter had The Egg in him.[19] Some time after this, he fought against Luke Skywalker and his friends, which, despite ending in his defeat, gave him more power of the Force. Later, his TIE fighter fought the Rebels aboard the Death Star, only to be defeated. Later, at Cloud City, Darth Vader managed to catch Han Solo and trap him in carbonite. He later fought his enemies again, though he was defeated. During the fight, he confessed Luke that he was his father.

Some time after, Darth Vader fought his son and his friends one last time aboard the Death Star 2, alongside Emperor Palpatine. However, he suddenly had a change of heart and defeated Palpatine. Luke then took an injured Darth Vader's mask out and saw his face for the first time. He later was seen as a Jedi spirit watching his son and his friends celebrating.

In gameplay, Darth Vader is seen in the Level Failed screen, laughing at the player. He is not playable until the final battle, where he suddenly has a change of heart and hops onto the slingshot. When he collides onto a surface, he will simply hop back onto the slingshot. He can also use the force to push away nearby objects.

Angry Birds Cheetos 2

Angry Birds Star Wars II

Red appears in Angry Birds Star Wars II as a main character but as 4 different characters and three versions.

Anakin Skywalker
Redkin I
Redkin II
Redkin III

In Angry Birds Star Wars II, a young Anakin was seen fixing one of his creations on Tatooine. He soon after joined the Bird Side in the battle against the Pork Side, defeating Sebulba Pig on Tatooine. He later went with his new allies to Naboo, and soon after went to space to destroy the Pork Federation Spaceship.

Much time later, Anakin became a Jedi Padawan and started to date (and then married) Padmé Amidala. At Kamino, he helped in the fight against Zam Wessel. He later went to Geonosis to continue the fight against the Pork Side, though he would slowly join it. He later killed Count Dooku and then turned against the Bird Side. When he was discovered, he killed Mace Windu and fled away to Mustafar as his former allies watched dumbfounded. On the planet, he had a battle against Obi-Wan Kenobi, where he was thrown onto the magma, burning all his feathers. He was soon after saved by Darth Sidious, who gave him an special armor though a surgery. Anakin then adopted a new identity, calling himself Darth Vader.

In gameplay, Anakin Episode I and Anakin Episode II are both Bird Side characters, while Anakin Episode III and Darth Vader are Pork Side characters. They can all be used in their respective levels, though they can also be used in all the other levels of the game. They can be obtained by buying them at the shop, at random chance by melting carbonite, or by opening gifts.

Anakin Episode I is first introduced in the Bird Side version of Escape to Tatooine 2–6. When used, Anakin Episode I will be connected to his Podracer. Unlike other playable characters however, Anakin himself will not receive damage when he collides with a surface; rather, he will receive damage when his Podracer is destroyed. By tapping anywhere onto the screen, the player will make Anakin head towards the location the player tapped onto. Here, he will be unaffected by gravity and water. When it collides with any surface, Anakin's Podracer will explode, damaging nearby objects and enemies.

The costs of Anakin Episode I at the shop are as follows:

Product Cost (in credits)
+10 300
+30 400
+100 600
Permanent 1200

Anakin Episode II is first introduced in the Bird Side version of Rise of the Clones 4–1. When tapping onto the screen while Anakin is flying, he will swing his Lightsaber 180 grades once, destroying glass and wood, killing enemies, and slightly damaging metal and structures it touches. He can also perform this attack when he is hit, though the player will only have one second to use it.

The costs of Anakin Episode II at the shop are as follows:

Product Cost (in credits)
+10 500
+30 1000
+100 1500
Permanent 2250

Anakin Episode III is first introduced in the Pork Side version of Revenge of the Sith 5-5. When tapping onto the screen while Anakin is flying, he will use the force to grab nearby objects and enemies and then send them away. He can also perform this attack when he is hit, though the player will only have one second to use it.

The costs of Anakin Episode III at the shop are as follows:

Product Cost (in credits)
+10 750
+30 1500
+100 2000
Permanent 3350

Darth Vader is not actually introduced in the story; he can only be played as by using him at the shop. His attacks are the same as those from Anakin Episode III, except that he is now much stronger.

The costs of Darth Vader at the shop are as follows:

Product Cost (in credits)
+10 800

+100 2000
Permanent 3500
Ezra Bridger
Ezra Bridger

Ezra Bridger first appears in BE-1, his ability is to shoot a long orange laser beam of a gun to a really long distance for less than 7 seconds, it can destroy wood and glass very well but metal will only deflect it to another position, while maintaining strength.

He is not very strong body-wise and will only destroy a piece of wood, glass or metal if nothing is on his way, also defeating enemies the same manner. While he activates his ability, he will charge his gun for some time but it will still make him able to launch the beam.

Cameo

He also makes a cameo in the background of the Bird Side version of Rise of the Clones and the title screen, as a peach-colored building on Coruscant.

Angry Birds Go!

In Angry Birds Go!, Red appears as the first default playable character, though he can also appear as an opponent in some races and Versus (the latter only in the 1.0.0 version). In gameplay, Red has his own Special Power, which is a boost that will temporarily increase his speed leaving a trail of red feathers behind him.

Angry Birds Epic

In Angry Birds Epic, Red appears as the main default character. At the start of the events of the game, he and Chuck were minding their business as usual, until they were attacked by hordes of Minion Pigs led by Wizpig and Prince Porky. The pigs managed to defeat the birds in no effort, stole their eggs and their personal equipment, and kidnapped Chuck. Furious, Red ventured through the South Beach and rescued his yellow friend. At the Cobalt Plateaus, they got one egg and found Matilda crying because her garden was destroyed by Porky. The white bird soon after joined their group. The flock then chased Porky through the Golden Fields, until the pig used his air balloon to escape to Desert Island, which supposed a problem for the flock as they could not cross the Limestone Lagoon that separated Pig Island and Desert Island. Fortunately, Bomb came in with his Bird Ship, only for him to be attacked by a Pirate, who stole the ship's rudder. After retrieving the rudder and rescuing Jake, Jay and Jim, who had been surrounded by the prince and some troops, Red and his comrades managed to retrieve the second egg on the castle.

Later, the flock passed through the Pirate Coast, the Slingshot Woods and the Great Cliffs, before going to the Star Reef to rescue the third egg. Back at the Great Cliffs, Red, Chuck and Bomb were fooled by the pigs and kidnapped. While Chuck and Bomb were freed, the cage Red was in was taken to the sky by Prince Porky's airship. However, the other birds, with the help of Professor Pig, managed to build their own Airship and rescue the red bird. At the Snowy Peak, they got the fourth egg and ventured through the Islands in the Sky, the Pumpkin Plateau, and the Square Forest.

Right outside of the entrance of Pig City, where the fifth and final egg was, Red and his flock found themselves unable to continue with their adventure due to the walls and catapults blocking their way though. By Professor Pig's advice however, they went to the Moorlands and got a Submarine, which they used to pass through a mine field and enter the city. There, they had a duel against Wizpig. Later, they broke through the castle and got the fifth egg.

In a sudden turn of events, Wizpig revealed his true colors to the others and used his magic to get the egg and King Pig's crown before going to the Hog Head Mountain and make himself a Magic Shield to protect himself there. The flock followed him and managed to destroy the shield by defeating the enemies that protected it. Red and his comrades had a definitive showdown against Wizpig, who was aided by Lefty and Righty. However, the pig was defeated. With his last strengths, Wizpig used his own magic to transform into Demonic Wizpig, a state so powerful that no bird could defeat him. However, with the help of Prince Porky, who gave Demonic Wizpig the final strike, the flock got the fifth egg and King Pig's crown. The group then went back to Pig City and gave the king his crown, with him thanking them.

In gameplay, Red is used to complete the first few levels and free Chuck, and from then on he becomes one of the five prominent playable characters in the story mode.

Red, like all of the other characters, can be upgraded and changed to the player's preference with the resources that he/she has.

His stats are the following:

Knight

Price: Free (Initial class)

Location: South Beach

Attack

Deals 115% AD damage, forcing _target to attack Red for 3 turns.

Protect

_target bird receives 55% less damage for 2 turns.

Pros

Gives the highest defense boost of all Red's classes and can get enemies to attack him instead of a bird with less HP.

Cons

Defense boost is single-_target, making it ineffective against high AOE damage.

Angry Birds Stella

In Angry Birds Stella, Red made a couple of cameo appearances. His first cameo was on Willow's phot where a red circle is next to a black circle and a yellow triangle. His second cameo was in Stella Finds the EggSpark, manifesting the body of Optimus Prime, to promote Angry Birds Transformers (see below). Red's third and final cameo was in an arcade game that featured him on there.

Angry Birds Transformers

In Angry Birds Transformers, when the EggSpark crash landed on Piggy Island, he was transformed into the leader of the Autobirds, Optimus Prime, the dedicated soldier Ultra Magnus, the evil doppelganger Nemesis Prime, the speedy Blurr and can combine with his fellow Autobirds Mirage, Sunstreaker, Ironhide, Prowl and sometimes Rodimus, into Optimus Maximus forming the torso.

Blurr

Hi i'm Blurr i'm without doubt the fastest most furious angry Autobird around. I'm fast talking, fast thinking, fast driving and fast firing. You get the idea... Can't stop, got to go faster!!! Beep, Beep.

Yap, that's Blurr alright. Let's slow things back down. Too fast for his own good that one! Although, if you ever need a message delivered fast, he's your guy. Not only is his weapon fast firing, he is known to travel so fast that it seems like the rest of the world is in slow motion! All this rapid movement bulids up an appettile fast, which requires both energon and most importantly candy! Nom Nom.

Blurr is very different from the other incarnations of Red in the game. Instead of a truck, he is a car. A very fast, futuristic, floating car. And by very fast, I mean really really fast. He’s in fact so fast that every time you switch to vehicle mode, everything starts moving in slow motion! So wouldn’t Chuck have been a better choice to portray this character? Maybe...

Angry Birds POP!

In Angry Birds POP!, Red appears as a permanent character.

In gameplay, Red appears in the "Drop the Pigs" and "Defeat King Pig" levels, though he can be optionally replaced with a Guest Star. When the Bird Gauge is full, he will be able to use the Rock Pop, where he will be able to pop a short line of bubbles.

Stella POP!

Initially, when the game was called Angry Birds Stella POP!, he was a limited character who could only be used during an event.

In gameplay, When the Bird Gauge is full, he will be able to use the Rock Pop, where he will be able to pop a short line of bubbles which still remains today.

Angry Birds Fight!

In Angry Birds Fight!, Red was the first out of six playable characters the player could choose to use. Other than being a playable character, he also appeared as an icon in the matching board. Like all of the other birds in the game, Red was customizable to the player's preference, and the player would be able to purchase costumes and weapons for Red with in-game currency.

In gameplay, the player could not play directly as Red; rather, they had to make him attack his enemy by till-matching various small birds. Matching three birds would have popped them out, and matching four or more would activate the specific bird's special ability. If four of Red's icons were matched, then random panels would be blocked out with wooden boxes on the opponent player's matching board.

Once the round was over, the two battling players began fighting, and the player's success would entirely be based on how many points they were able to gather.

Angry Birds 2

In Angry Birds 2, Red appears as the first playable character the player can use, making his first playable appearance in the very first level of the game. He can also be used in the Arena, as long as the game allows the player to use him. In addition, Red has his own daily event, named Red's Rumble, which can be played on Mondays.

In gameplay, Red can be used in any level as long as the player has a card of his. When tapping onto the screen when he is launched, he will make a small scream that will produce a short, red line. If a building is caught by that line, it will be pushed to the other side. This ability works better in tall, unstable buildings, and will not have much effect in structures that are well held. While Red can normally be used only once, filling the Destructometer can give the player a card with Red, allowing them to use him again. The amount of points Red can gather depends on his Bird Power, which can be leveled up by giving him enough feathers, upgrading the slingshot, etc.

Angry Birds World Tour

In Angry Birds World Tour, Red is a playable character who is first used in the first level of North America, and is a recurring character in the other episodes. Similar to past physics-based puzzle games, he has no ability when launched.

Angry Birds Action!

In Angry Birds Action!, Red appears as the first and default character the player is given. In gameplay, he can run towards a direction by pointing him at a _target and shooting. Red would then hit and bounce off of _targets until he ran out of speed. He can only do this three times, and he will disappear afterwards.

Angry Birds Football

In Angry Birds Football, Red appeared as the only playable character, as a member of the team Mighty Feathers. For the first time in an Angry Birds game, Red used his design from The Angry Birds Movie, in promotion of the film.

In gameplay, the player could upgrade Red's skills, in different categories that ranged from pace, power, technique, and defense that helped the birds' performances. These skills could be raised by training the birds or using in-game currency to upgrade them instantly. To win, the player had to pass the ball around in a special arrangement to the other birds in order to make the goal.

Angry Birds Ace Fighter

Red once again appeared in Angry Birds Ace Fighter as the icon and main character. He appeared in promotional material and trailers for the game.

Red's Description In-Game: Red has outstanding leadership skills, but he is nervous all the time. He is liable to mistake the smallest sound as the enemy firing the first shot. He's even mistaken the wind blowing through the trees for the distant oink of the hostile pig.

Rovio announced that the game would be discontinuing due to adjustment of structure platform, as well as an expired contract with Siamgame. On September 6th, 2016, the game was removed from the Play and App stores and recharge was turned off, making the game nearly impossible to play. On October 10th, servers were shut down.

The gameplay was based on a Shoot em up style, with the player located at the bottom of the screen as the enemies fly downwards from the very top. Not much was known about Red's role specifically in the game. It was known that he was one of 4 different playable characters, and could be paired with different kinds of planes.

Angry Birds Holiday

In Angry Birds Holiday, Red once again appeared in the icon of the game, and also appeared in promotions and trailers for the game. However, while most Angry Birds games include Red as the main leading character, Matilda actually took on this role rather than Red, guiding the player through the game. Because of this, Red actually did not have as much of a part in this game, though he did appear.

The game was never released outside of soft launch, and Rovio officially announced that the game stopped development and it was shut down as of December 31st, 2016.

As said before, Red did not have much involvement in this game. Because of this and the fact that the game didn't finish development, not much is known about Red's gameplay. It was known, however, that Red could be purchasable with in-game currency along with his Holiday Shop. From there, Red and his shop would appear in the player's customizable map.

Angry Birds Blast!

In Angry Birds Blast!, Red is a non-playable character. In the game, various Reds were kidnapped and put in balloons. To free them, the player has to tap two or more balloons of the same colors that are connected. They can also use the Slingshot to free one single Red instantly. The Red birds appear in red-colored balloons.

Angry Birds Dice

In Angry Birds Dice, Red appears in the game as a playable character. He could also be fought as an opponent.

As the game is monopoly-like, the player has to roll the dice and make a determined number of steps until a point is hit, which the player gains property over something or fall into a trap. For more details about the gameplay, see here. He has also his power that can be activated, but it is unknown as the game was canceled.

Angry Birds Evolution

In Angry Birds Evolution, Red is an unlockable red bird that is unlocked after beating the Yellow Desert or some events. His statistics are as follows:

Red also appears as Classic Red. In this state, he has a slightly modified design from Angry Birds Toons.

Classic Red

Classic Red is another version of Red in Angry Birds Evolution that can be obtained in events such as the Classic Red Event, his debuting event. His statistics are as follows:

Explosive Storm Leader Skill Awaken Skill Description
Kicks a pig and turns it into a whirling storm. All pigs hit by the storm will be drawn aside and blasted over the field in a massive explosion that causes 12347 damage to the affected pigs. All red birds in the team get +40% attack power. Increases the critical chance by 15%! The classic. The legend. The Red!

Angry Birds Match

In Angry Birds Match, Red appears as a supporting character that can be summoned in the levels. In the test version of the game. he also teaches the player how to play the game. In gameplay, Red can be summoned in any level by matching four items of the same color. When the player taps onto him and then slides the finger to any side, he will run towards that side, cleaning items in his way, popping pigs, and damaging boxes. However, if he is touched by other bird, or is not used by the player when they complete the level, he will split into two and will run either horizontally or vertically. This means that, for example, vertically, one Red will be running towards the top part of the screen, while the other one will run to the bottom part.

He acts similarly to Coral. The reason might be because Angry Birds Matchs gameplay is a reskin of Fruit Nibblers gameplay because Chuck and Bomb also act the same as the Bitelings (the original version of the former) and Octo (the original version of the latter).

Angry Birds Champions

Red appears in the game as a playable character who can be used in any level.

In gameplay, Red has the same gameplay features as in the earliest games. However, he will do nothing if the screen is tapped when he is launched.

Angry Birds for Facebook Messenger

Red appears in the game as a playable character who can be used in any level and is one of the four starting characters alongside The Blues, Chuck and Bomb.

Angry Birds Dream Blast

In Angry Birds Dream Blast, Red appears as a supporting character. This is also the first time in the Angry Birds series where he uses a new design that does not come from past games or media; instead, he now looks like a hatchling. He also appears as a profile picture that the player can unlock and choose.

In gameplay, Red can be summoned by popping four or more bubbles of the same color at the same time. The more bubbles are popped, the larger Red will be. When he is tapped or touched by other bird, he will make a horizontal line that will pop every bubble in its way. He will then disappear. Combining two Reds will summon one Chuck.

Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs

In both versions of Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs, Red is one of the four playable characters, and the first one used by the player. He is used for the first time in the first level of Sandy Beach. He can also be added as an optional character in the Level Builder mode. In this game, he has his sound effects from Angry Birds 2, which are taken from some episodes of Angry Birds Toons. When launched, Red will have no ability, which is why he is mainly used to push buildings.

Angry Birds POP Blast

In Angry Birds POP Blast, Red is a playable character that is unlocked in the first level. He also appears as Super Red in the Space Race.

In gameplay, Red can be used in any level as long as the player chooses to him. When his bar is full, he will active his ability, which is an explosive fireball that will pop some bubbles in a range.

Angry Birds Island

In Angry Birds Island, Red is a non-playable character. In the game, various Reds appear in red-colored balloons. To free them, the player has to tap two or more balloons of the same colors that are connected. In the story of the game, he also helps the player on re-building Bird Island along with other birds.

Angry Birds Explore

In Angry Birds Explore, Red is a character who can be played as in the Peperami and PEZ Bird Code minigames, the Go Fly minigame and surprisingly the only playable character of the Pig Out! minigame but the other characters can be used as extra characters.

Angry Birds Journey

In Angry Birds Journey, Red is a playable character that, unlike in past games, is unlocked as the fifth and last bird. When he collides anywhere, he will _target to five different items and then destroy them in a ruckus. When the Anger Meter ability is used, the ruckus will be bigger.

Angry Birds Legends

In Angry Birds Legends, Dragon Slayer Red is the second playable character the player unlocks after Uriel. He can be played in any level the player wants. He is unlocked after beating the first enemy.

Angry Birds Double Crossed

Red will appear in Angry Birds Double Crossed as a contestant with a sightly modified version of his Dream Blast design which looks older in this game.

Angry Birds Launch It!

Red will appear in Angry Birds Launch It! as a playable character with the only other confirmed playable characters being Chuck, Bomb and Bubbles.

Angry Birds Reloaded

Trivia
