Cornfield Clem was a disguise used by Abner to keep people away from the Cobb Corners corn maze.
Physical appearance
Cornfield Clem looked like a normal scarecrow with a burlap sack head, glowing red eyes, and long arms and legs made of hay. He wore a tan shirt, dark grey pants, and brown gloves.
Personality
To quote Velma - "Local legend, supernatural creature, homicidal maniac". He single mindedly acted to keep people out of the corn maze. Strangely, he was more talkative and vociferous than the person under the mask, telling people to get out of his cornfield.
Powers and abilities
He could extend his arms out to great distances and seemed to be quite adept at wielding a scythe.
History
Early History
According to legend, Cornfield Clem was a scarecrow cursed to haunt the town every year between harvest time until Halloween. It had been brought to life by a witch who was run out of town.

Abner had previously stolen money and buried it in an open field, only to return to discover the field had grown into a massive cornfield. He used the legend to keep people away from the corn maze while he searched for his stolen money.
