"The Promised Starry Sky" (
Summary
Emilico, now "Kate", explains she borrowed the name from someone. Spending the night at Shirley's house, she reassures Shirley to join the Selection by bringing along a small ribbon from her toy on her finger. Meeting up with her new friends in the morning, they have fun styling Kate's hair and are brought to the Selection. Back in the present, Emilico is happy that she has made friends having been lonely most of her life. The clouds clear and the friends holds hands looking up at the starry sky. Back in her room, Emilico remembers on the morning she was fired, she met a girl whose cap gets blown off by the wind, revealing she has no face.
Plot
Outside the house, Emilico who is now "Kate" explains she borrowed the name from someone else. John exclaims that the five of them are now friends and that they will enjoy their time together at the mansion as the sky becomes starry. Kate stays overnight at Shirley's house who confesses that she has a hard time talking to others without a stuffed animal named Rummy that her mother made but since she can't bring personal items to the manor. Thinking if an idea, Kate takes Rummy's ribbon and has Shirley wear it on her finger as a ring which brings her confidence back. In the morning, Kate spots a bird that flies away when she opens the window as Louise, John, and Patrick come over to help prepare Kate for the Selection, exchanging ideas on how to do her hair. Kate is excited as she gets to start as someone new and lines up with the children at the Selection.
Back to the present, Ricky notes that Emilico's memory is vague since she never stayed somewhere permanently as Shaun becomes upset as it was due to them that Emilico was brought to the prison like life in the manor. Despite this, Emilico is happy as she finally has gained friends which took away most of her regrets and notices the clouds clear in the sky. The friends all hold hands and watch the stars.
Back in her room, Emilico remembers a new memory on the morning she failed her tightrope performance. She was walking by a creek where a young girl was sitting as a strong gust of wind blows, knocking off the new girl's cap which reveals a Shadow.
