William Booth

British Methodist preacher (1829-1912)

William Booth (10 April 1829 – 20 August 1912) was an English Methodist preacher. He and his wife Catherine, founded the Salvation Army. He became its first "General" (1878–1912). He was named among the 100 Greatest Britons in 2002 by the BBC.
