Patricia Highsmith

American novelist and short story writer (1921–1995)

Patricia Highsmith (previously: Mary Patricia Plangman; 19 January 1921 – 4 February 1995) was an American novelist and short story writer. She was known for psychological thrillers.

She wrote the novel The Talented Mr. Ripley in 1955. Her first book, Strangers on a Train was 1950. Some of her novels included homosexual themes or undertones.

The novelist was born in Fort Worth, Texas. She had sexual relationships with men and women. She died in Locano, Switzerland from aplastic anemia at age seventy-four.
