Sylvana Simons

Sylvana Hildegard Simons (born 31 January 1971) is a Dutch anti-racism activist and politician. She is party leader of BIJ1.

Simons was born in Paramaribo, Suriname. She worked as a dancer, as a VJ at TMF, and presented radio and TV shows.
In 2016, she founded the political partij BIJ1. From 2018 to 2020, she was a councillor in Amsterdam.
She was the first candidate on the list of BIJ1 in the 2021 Dutch general election. BIJ1 gained one seat, so she has been both parliamentary group leader and a member of parliament since March 2021.
