1999 Shiki Kiri Homura (
All Appearances | + or |
Description
Kusanagi first points forward aggressively, going into a 3-hit punch combo of a flame-less Aragami hook punch (which has autoguard/guard point), a turning-elbow bash with his leading arm (starting portion of 100 Shiki Oniyaki with no fire), ending with a crossing-arm strike that launches.
The combo is then finished with Kusanagi getting down on one knee, to then punch upwards to the sky upon the victim falling on his fist that causes an explosion.
Strategy
Usage
Kiri Homura has a guard point on startup much like any other move derived from the Aragami's animation, and does amount fair damage to the opponent. The last hit on the Kiri Homura (the rising uppercut punch) has a large hitbox that is larger than Kusanagi's fist, making a good punish tool for unsuspecting opponents trying to punish you.
Counter
It is a bit hard to punish 1999 Shiki Kiri Homura if blocked because of the massive amount of range Kusanagi is pushed back from the opponent.
Quotes
Trivia
- Kusanagi's quote while using 1999 Shiki Kiri Homura parodies Domon Kasshu's iconic "Shining Finger Sword" line from G-Gundam.
- This attack is based on Syo Kirishima's Striker attack, via its startup flash and the finishing punch animation. Furthermore, the method number is also a nod to The King of Fighters '99, the year it was released in, the start of the NESTS Saga, and was also Syo's debut as a striker (in this case The King of Fighters '99 Evolution).
- Both Syo and Kusanagi also have been both voiced by Mitsuo Iwata to drive this allusion home further, on top of Kusanagi reusing Syo's exact quote.
