Chaos Snap

Instantly warps in front of the enemies (up to five) for a chain off attacks.Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) instruction manual[1]

Chaos Snap (カオススナップ, Kaosu Sunappu?) is a technique that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a chaos power used by Shadow the Hedgehog and a variant of Chaos Control and Chaos Attack, where Shadow warps short distances to strike his opponents.

Description

Shadow-Chaos-Snap

The Chaos Snap is essentially a weaker version of Chaos Control that doesn’t require a Chaos Emerald. The user quickly teleports and homes in onto the nearest opponent with a blue aura.

Game appearances

Shadow the Hedgehog

The Chaos Snap only makes a minor appearance in Shadow the Hedgehog. The technique appears in the opening cinematic of the game in which Shadow uses it to make light work of a few Black Arms soldiers. It does not appear in gameplay.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

In gameplay of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Chaos Snap allows the player to deal more damage to enemies over a greater range. When performing this move, Shadow enters his Chaos Boost state and warps between opponents where he lands several fierce hits on them. Additionally, Shadow can now destroy Steel Containers and break down rocks.[2] If there is no enemy nearby when performing the Chaos Snap, the move will shorten the range of Shadow's Homing Attack.

To use Chaos Snap in gameplay, the player must have purchased the Memory Shard (blue) at a Shop. The player must then activate the Chaos Boost and press XboxA/Cross during a jump to attack with the Chaos Snap. If the player uses Chaos Snap on an enemy and holds XboxA/Cross down, Shadow will float in midair and will not attack until the player releases the button, though the player can still rotate Shadow's direction. Hanging in mid-air will give the player full invulnerability against any attacks.

Sonic Forces

In Episode Shadow, Shadow used Chaos Snap to beat up Infinite while intruding Eggman's Facility.

Shadow Generations

Chaos Snap returns in Shadow Generations, where it acts nearly identically to the Homing Attack, but renders Shadow invulnerable between his current location and his _target, allowing him to bypass laser fields, dodge projectiles, and pass through Soldier spike walls.

This move replaces his Homing Attack, but only when locked on an enemy, as Shadow will otherwise use the Homing Attack instead of the Chaos Snap on non-enemy objects like springs, pulleys, and grind rails.

Sonic Speed Simulator

In Sonic Speed Simulator, the Chaos Snap is exclusively used by Doom Shadow and Ninja Shadow. It replaces Shadow's Homing Attack.
