The Saucer[1] is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics.
Description
The Saucers are gray, metal, disk-shaped vehicles capable of high speed flight, and are used by most characters as a means of fast traveling to whatever location they intend to go to. The maximum capacity any Saucer has been shown to comfortably carry is 5 individuals.
History
Saucers were used by the Dark Legion as the main means of transporting their troops when they invaded Angel Island. It was the main means of transport for many of their members, which they have used on many occasions, such as the multiple times when they have invaded Angel Island. Over time, their use had spread across all of Mobius, beyond just the Dark Legion, with other factions such as the Knothole Freedom Fighters, Iron Dominion, Yagyu Clan, and even the Eggman Empire making use of them.[2][3]
The Knothole Freedom Fighters have used the Saucers on several occasions in order to keep up with Sonic’s speed, preferring to run alongside his friends in the Saucer, although Sonic has also used Saucers as well. It has also been used by the Secret Freedom Fighters.[4][5]
The Iron Dominion and Yagyu Clan used many Saucers during their invasion of New Mobotropolis, due to the Eggman Empire now having the Dark Legion working underneath its direct authority. Eggman later also used one of these same Saucers that was left behind by the invasion as a means to get back to New Megaopolis with Snively.[6][7]
