The Search Flappers look very similar to the Flapper, possessing the round torso, black undercarriage, dome-shaped head, the airplane-like wings instead of arms, the two turbines on their backs, and the flight visors instead of eyes. However, unlike the typical Flapper, the Search Flappers are yellow instead of orange-red with red joints, and they each have a yellow searchlight attached to their black undercarriages.
In gameplay, Search Flappers have few hit points and float around in midair, where they either levitate in a fixed position or move back and forth within a certain area. When they spot the playable characters, a speech balloon containing an exclamation point will appear above the Search Flappers. Immediately after, they will teleport several Egg Pawns into the same areas as themselves in order to have them combat the player. However, they can only do this once. Apart from that, they possess no offensive capabilities.
Because they float in midair, the Search Flappers typically float outside the reach of most of the player's attacks. The easiest way to destroy them is by using Thunder Shoot to knock them out of the sky, leaving them open to any attack. If Thunder Shoot is leveled up to at least Level 2 however, then it may be enough to destroy a Search Flapper in one shot. Also, upon their destruction, they grant the player 200 points.
Powers and abilities
The Search Flappers are all capable of flight using the jetpacks on their backs. They also possess the unique ability to call Egg Pawns to their location by having them teleported there.
Trivia
Search Flappers can also be found in Team Chaotix's version of Ocean Palace, more specificially at the stage's turtle section which is normally inaccessible by said team without the use of glitches.
Search Flappers in Robot Carnival and Robot Storm (as well as those in Team Chaotix's version of Ocean Palace) will not teleport additional Egg Pawn enemies even if they detect the player.
