no, thank you!
one minor caveat, i think. i did a fresh install from the new xfce devuan release and all went fine. it's nice there's an option to choose from 3 init systems. i chose runit. upon rebooting after installation, i did a check of the init (cat /proc/1/comm & stat /sbin/init. sysV was displayed. i just did a "#apt install runit-init" and all seems to be working fine with runit displayed now. maybe it's my ancient (> 17yrs) computer? also, not sure if this is the right place to mention this. if not, please excuse my ignorance.
thank you again.
peace ~ cheers

Our daily pipeline is really busy...I just need a day or so for the change to take affect. we should see the corrected ISOs posted by this Saturday at the latest,
Again props! to ~ric~ for pointing this out.... thank you so much., because.... this was a silent issue that did not show up in any errors or in logs Even when I originally testing things looked ok. ... much love to you!

Been using the new Devuan for a week now, and it's been working really well. I do have a question about the sources.list file. It looks like the security repo and updates repo are disabled. At least that is what I think it is when it has the pound sign next to it. Can you confirm if that is the case? If it is disabled, should I enable it? Thanks.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
That is correct. that # does comment them out, you can enable them by removing the# that will pull upstream security updates.
A while back we pinged the community about that, and the feedback we got was the user should decide to enabled what should be on and off in that sources list out of the box minus the main updates...
but with all that said...it can be changed if we need it to.
Will make a note to add this to the documentation

Thanks for the quick response. I definitely appreciate the level of freedom Peppermint allows its users. Definitely the most customisable distro I have ever used.

Hi there. I downloaded and installed Peppermint Gnome Falshback and its working well mostly. Like it very much as I am a mate fan as well as other desktops, partic gnome. I installed twice as by default my installation sets up Portuguese keyboard for some unexplained reason and I have to add standard US english. Also the time setting in settings keeps changing back to London, UK and it wont yet stay on my changes. Looking forward to Peppermint Classic. Hopefully it will be systemd free. That would be my preferred choice. Will see what happens :). Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for offering a different desktop along with XFCE.

Sorry. Forgot to mention one other thing.....On install my password would work for log in to desktop but not in the terminal. I normally use symbols in my password. I looked online and someone suggested using a password with just numbers and letters. I tried that on the reinstall and all was good. Never had that before.

Really glad you are enjoying Peppermint. You will love Peppermint Classic, it's awesome and I think there probably will be a devuan version :) I hope you get some rest. Kindest regards, Adam

Thanks Adam. Better now I think :). Though sadly I had to do a reinstall as computer wouldnt recognize external drives; mouse stopped working entirely. Tried installing another filemanager but no go either so reinstalled. My previous installs were with openrc but thought this time I would go with the default. See how it goes.

Oh I am sorry to hear you have been having a few troubles. You should be able to install almost any file manager you wish. Shouldn't cause any problems. Did you update? What hardware are you using? Peppermint usually finds most drivers one needs. Keep pepperminting. I really like your avatar too :) Regards, Adam

Hi Adam. My laptop seems to be running better this install so hopefully all ok this time. I'll keep an eye on it. Its a Asus M509D with Ryzen 5 and Vega graphics. Ran the previous version Peppermint pretty well. Updated and tweaked as much as I can :) This time, I am only using nautilus ( with admin access added )
I have Peppermint GFB Devuan also installed on my older Lenovo C40-05 All-in-One. A6 AMD processor and Radeon R4/5 graphics. Get some graphics related message when waking up from suspend but otherwise ok. Been using linux since 2018. I jumped into the deep end. Installed ArcolinuxB Mate ( Arch ). Had to partially compile Skype I remember at the time.. Tried a whole lot of different distro's but have stuck with Peppermint for the longest and I have come to the end of my distro-hopping. I will check out Peppermint Classic when its available for interests sake and see if it's worth switching to.
As regards my avatar, thanks too. I emigrated to Canada from New Zealand over 20 years ago and I thought Moose were the national animal here though its actually the beaver. I like Moose hence my user name, email address and the avatar. God bless, Lyndon

I'm so glad you love Peppermint, It will certainly be worth giving Classic a try. I used Arco for a few years in the past, it was a great learning tool. Erik is a good teacher. Canada is such a beautiful country, mind you New Zealand isn't so bad either! I tend to use Beaver in my name, so it made me happy to see someone using a moose :)
Kindest regards, Adam

Hi Adam. I have been waiting awhile to see how my Peppermint GFB installation went. Seems to be running perfectly now. When I did the last installation, I stuck with the default Sysv option and all good now.
I installed the same system on my sons laptop and working ok too. Though the same issue of the installer setting up by default a portuguese keyboard so I had to add again the standard US keyboard.
My Lenovo C40-05 had continual error messages coming out of suspend ( Radeon error messages ). I tried another distro ( MX23.1-Fluxbox ). Really like the setup there but same issues so its back to Arcolinux for now. It just seems to work ! :). Hope all good there. Lyndon

Hi there. I had a previous version iso and tried that as my preference is for Peppermint Devuan, rather than a systemd based distro. Arcolinux runs great but my preference has been a systemd-free os. It installed fine on my older Lenovo C40-05 ( btrfs option which I prefer ) and I upgraded as per Devuan upgrade instructions. Running excellent. My laptop issues returned ( sadly :( ) and I reinstalled the previous version ( again with btrfs option ) and runs just like it used to, very reliably !! I didnt have too many issues with the older calamares installer and I think the newer installer is not as good as the older one. Just my thoughts :). Anyway, both my systems running very well. I want to keep btrfs as my file system. May upgrade via terminal to new version on laptop too but no plans to rush ahead with that right now. If its not broken, don't fix it ! Lyndon

Good day to you Lyndon :) I don't know why I didn't see your previous message. Otherwise I should have replied sooner. I'm so glad you are enjoying Peppermint Devuan. It's an "ansome" (as we say in Cornwall) little gem. Yes, I agree about the installer thing, but I think that's a Debian problem not a peppermint one. It has always been a little glitchy.
The fact you have installed Peppermint on your Sons computer means you are becoming a real peppermint family :) I hope he is enjoying it too. I can't pretend to be an expert on the whole; no system d thing. But I do know that it boots really fast. I think the thing that makes a distro is the community, we are so lucky here to have a wonderful group of people who are always willing to help anyone. If you want you could join our matrix channel #Peppermintos you will probably feel even more a member of the community there. We all often have chats on there and it's a great place to make like minded friends.
Keep pepperminting Lyndon my friend. And stay in touch. Kindest regards, Adam

. No worries. Thanks matey for messages. Yes, the forum here is so friendly and helpful. Great for experienced and particularly for new users. If we want people to change to linux, we have to be inviting and not just assume that they 'should know it all' already. Peppermint forum is great. Happy Pepperminting too Adam. Later.
