Would it be possiblie or even desirable to indicate applicability to Debian or Devuan spins? For example systemctl command is not part of my Devuan 32-bit install so am thinking it mut be Debian specific i.e. systemd associated.

Maybe, but systemd = Debian and sysv =Devuan.

I would hazard a guess, most users of PMOS were used to Ubuntu, which is a variant of Debian, would go for the familiarity of Ubuntu that is a highly customised version of Debian. It is actually an OS in its own right, because of these custom settings and the inclusion of non-free software with wifi, mobo, firmware, etc, etc.

Both Debian and Devuan primarily prefer the free software universe, but both allow users to incorporate Backports by editing their /etc/apt/sources.list. We; that us the developers choose to include Backports as this allows for most wifi firmware to be included during the install. Along with a multitude of other generic firmware essential for mobo, cpu's etc to function.

Our version of minimalism, shares Debian and Devuan minimal approach, we have chosen the bare bone of tools and applications by not including apps such as Libre Office. Whereas both Debian and Devuan go for bare bones of OS to just function. Their ethos has mellowed over the years, with support via the Backports edit to allow for modern software needs, i.e Nvidia graphic cards, newer kernels for the latest graphics at the bleeding edge of development.

Similar to the What is the Best Browser Debate systemd or sysv. Preference and choice is for the end user to discover. Neither is the defacto best. Just opposing opinions reaching a near theological and rhetorical debate.

Linux is a voyage of discovery. The path chosen is yours.
