The fifth season of the American animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants, created by former marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg was announced on November 9, 2005[1], premiered on February 19, 2007, with the episodes "Rise and Shine," "Waiting," and "Sing a Song of Patrick." The whole season has 20 half-hours consisting of 41 individual episodes. The season ended with "Goo Goo Gas," on July 19, 2009.
The season 5 DVDs were split by volume. The volume one DVD was released in Region 1 on September 4, 2007, the volume two DVD was released on November 18, 2008, and the season set was released entirely in Region 2 on November 16, 2009, Region 4 on December 3, 2009, and in Region 1 on November 13, 2012.
