Friendsnatcher from Outer Space

Friendsnatcher from Outer Space is the first episode of Season 2, and the ninth episode overall. It follows Super Sniffles, and its successor is Superfan. Here, an alien in a ship disguised as a meteor lands on Earth with a special meteorite in his sights.

Synopsis

Plot

The episode begins as a tour guide gives the class a tour, directing them to a strange blue meteorite, which landed near the museum. Zoey proclaims it to be the most amazing thing she's ever seen.

Later, at her house, Zoey draws a picture of the meteorite, showing it to her grandfather, who appreciates it. However, the grandfather grandfather gets an alert on his device, so they head down to Beam Control to check what happened, discovering what appears to be a meteor headed to the museum. Zoey, upon discovering this, powers up.

Now powered up, StarBeam leaves the lab to repel the meteor. However, the meteor suddenly goes crazy, and StarBeam chases it, eventually stopping it. Henry doubts the object's nature, however, so StarBeam brings it back to Beam Control for analysis.

The so-called "meteor" is revealed to be a spaceship, out of which pops a small alien. Zoey is enamored when the alien pops out, thinking he would be a great pet. She and the alien try to get to know each other, but the alien cannot speak properly, so she decides that his name shall "Murp." Henry gets blue dust on his hands during the analysis of Murp's ship and wonders what it is. Zoey's grandfather solemnly forbids her from keeping Murp as a pet explains that Murp has a home out there in space. However, the grandfather decides that Murp can get a tour of the lighthouse as his spaceship undergoes repairs.

As she gives him a tour of her room, Murp's attention is grabbed by Zoey's telescope. Murp looks through the telescope, and the museum catches his attention, only to get interrupted by Kipper. Zoey and Murp head upstairs, while Kipper looks through the telescope, only to be overcome with suspicions due to his view of the museum (since Murp was looking in that direction before he got interrupted). During the tour of the lighthouse, Zoey and Murp have a grand view before Kipper intervenes. Zoey is angry at her pet bird's rudeness, not realising that Murp is leaving.

Back in the laboratory, Zoey's grandfather suggests that he and Henry should head up to check on how well she and her new friend are doing as Henry leaves his devices to scan the blue dust. Murp sneaks inside, attempting to fly his ship out, but it breaks down, so he logs into a computer, sending a message to what seems like other meteors. Back at the lighthouse, Zoey explains how Kipper should treat his guests nicely, only to realise that Murp vanished. She then gets an alert from Beam Control, so she and Kipper head down there.

Zoey arrives as her grandfather reveals that Murp sent a message. Zoey apologises to Kipper for flaunting his warnings. When Henry asks what Murp wants, Zoey powers up into StarBeam to get answers, heading towards the museum.

StarBeam and Henry (who had just powered up into Boost), break into the museum. They search and eventually notice some movement. Boost then finds some aliens that look like Murp stealing the strange blue meteorite when his light ends up striking them. The duo stop the robbery by blocking the exit, whereupon they find that the robbery was occuring was because Murp was attempting to power his ship up with the meteorite, proven with Henry's prior analysis that the blue dust is fuel. Murp then reveals that he dropped the meteorite fragment after a run-in with actual meteors. With that, StarBeam allows Murp to take the meteorite. Murp powers his ship up and surrenders it amicably. After he and Kipper make amends, Murp leaves with his look-alikes. Zoey and Boost wave goodbye as Murp and his friends depart back to their home planet.

Trivia

  • In reality, Murp's message would have taken much longer to reach the other aliens.
