Age of Republic - Jango Fett 1 is the fourth one-shot in the canon comic book anthology series Star Wars: Age of Republic. The issue was written by Jody Houser, illustrated by Luke Ross, and published on January 9, 2019 by Marvel Comics.

Inside a cantina on Telerath, Chadra Fan bounty hunter Tiver complains about the rich idiots that put together the crew that she’s with, which includes the Rodian Neelda, and the Gand Rinn. With Jango Fett being the final member, it feels like overkill and insulting, and she isn’t even sure why he’d take a job like this as his clients have deep enough pockets to be his only client. Just then, Jango arrives inside of the cantina after dealing with another job that involved killing a man guarded by two Dowutins. Approaching their table with his clone son Boba, Jango is introduced to the crew that he’ll be working with, and ensures that none of them have a problem with Boba helping on the job as a part of his training. Afterwards, Jango and Boba leave Telerath on the Slave 1, and Boba questions why they’re working with random bounty hunters instead of Cad Bane, Aurra Sing, or Zam Wessel. Jango informs his son that he already knows all of them, and the lesson is the unknown factor. It's taken him a long time to get where he is, as they aren’t born with a reputation and need to earn it.
Flashing back some time ago on the Moons of Bogden, Jango meets with a man named Tyrannus who is sure that he’ll find the price that the Kaminoans are offering to be more than fair. For access to his genetic template to create a clone army, he will be expected to reside with the cloners on Kamino when he isn’t taking business elsewhere. Before Tyrannus leaves, Jango questions why he was chosen as there are plenty of other bounty hunters out in the galaxy, and Tyrannus tells him that few have his reputation both in terms of skills and discretion. When Tyrannus asks how many will have such a legacy as Jango once the Grand Army of the Republic has stemmed from him, Jango requests one final wish as compensation, which is to have an unaltered clone to call his son.
In the present on Ord Mantell, the group of bounty hunters gather to complete their job and discuss the details which included the _target’s father wanting her back alive and unharmed. On a balcony, the _target - a Twi’lek woman, meets with a Falleen named Griph, and as the two embrace each other, Griph tells her that he’s talked to his uncle on their behalf, and he has connections to the Black Sun Cartel. However, before anything can progress, Boba and Tiver appear behind them and hold them at blaster point. Neelda and Rinn arrive opposite of them to prevent their escape, and they get Griph to leave peacefully as they aren’t after him. When the bounty hunters corner the Twi’lek on the balcony, she exclaims that she isn’t going back and starts to stand up on the railing. As she tries to back up, she slips off the edge, seemingly falling to her death, but Jango Fett uses his jetpack and scoops her up out of the air before stunning her. Boba asks his father how he knew she was going to fall, and he explains that it was always a possibility and you have to trust your instincts on the job as you’ll learn that desperate people make stupid decisions.
Just then, Tiver pounces on Boba and holds a blade up to his neck while Rinn points their blaster at Jango, saying that he can have his boy back if he gives them the Twi’lek. When Neelda claims that they’re insane, he too is threatened and will die if he doesn’t help them. While contemplating on his next move, Jango has a flashback to Kamino inside the cloning facilities, and he’s shown the clones in training. A Kaminoan believes that he must be very proud as not a single unit has fallen below combat parameters, but Jango doesn’t see what there is to be proud of as they are only livestock bread as cannon fodder. Back in the present, Jango is pressured to make a decision, but to Tiver’s surprise, he decides to abandon the situation. With Tiver distracted, Boba knocks her to the ground and pulls a blaster on her and shoots her dead. Before Rinn can make a move, Boba disarms them and doesn’t take any risks, so he shoots them dead to have a clean kill. When Neelda starts to compliment Jango and his son, Jango asks his son what they should do with the Rodian since he didn’t seem to be in on Tiver and Rinn’s coup attempt, but also didn’t do much to stop it either. Leaving the decision up to his son, Boba has Neelda forfeit his share of the bounty, but not his life, and so he lets Neelda run off.
The two Fetts leave Ord Mantell aboard the Slave 1 with the Twi’lek _target, and Boba explains that he made his decision to let Needla live so that he could tell other bounty hunters what had happened today. He wants the whole galaxy to know what happens when they mess with the two of them, and Jango compliments his son for building his reputation and says that a father couldn’t ask for a better start to his son’s legacy.
